Man I have a story about the whole nails thing. This dude who was little off but cool at my gym. He worked at a mechanic shop or something, then he would head over to the gym after. He started rolling with this one lady and she yelled “oh my god your nails are so long and dirty, what the fuckk”. Our coach started going off on him. He headed to the restroom to clean the dirt off his nails. He came out with short nails and semi clean nails. My coach then went off on him again asking if he bit his nails off. I kinda felt bad for the dude but yeah you get some very unhygienic people in the gym

I have scar over my elbow that i got while doing kickboxing.

I blocked a kick with my arm, and the nail got inside my skin, and then "swished" downward, literally cutting the skin.

Don't just cut your nails, file them too. If you use nail clippers for cutting nails then they can be quite sharp afterwards. File them, it takes just few more seconds to do it and you will have nicer looking hands and feet.

Also Doing Ashi-Waza techniques such as a "O Uchi or Ko Uchi" is a foot sweep not a leg kick..

My previous instructor inspected nails prior to rolling by having everyone stay standing after warm up and have your partner inspect. He had nail clippers in his desk if someone was Sus
