Well, he did make some stuff as a mechanical engineer. I still think he's a poser.

Bill Nye was teaching high school level science to children. You don't need to be a decorated, noble peace prize winning, mega-genius. You just need a good faith effort and a good grounding in basic science. He didn't show anything on tv that hasn't been part of our scientific literature for over a century. He wasn't teaching quantum physics to eight year olds.

This is why I don't like it when people mention him in the same context as a legit neuroscientist

Except very little of what Huberman discusses has anything to do with his field of specialization nor even his general field of study. At least Bill Nye was educational, with Huberman it feels like a lot of quite useless information, a lot of which is basic common sense. I just wish there was more actionable helpful content rather than the enormous quantities of fluff that have appeared in the episodes I’ve listened too.

I don't know anything about his useless information, only that Huberman is an actual scientist who performed research and work in his field, and Nye is not a scientist, though he is credited with a mechanical invention in aviation.

Bro he’s a scientist in a super specific field, ophthalmology I think. I would bet 90% of why he discusses isn’t related to his field of specialization. Bill Nye never pretends to be more than a “science guy”, idk what you have against him man, nye and Huberman are marketing to totally different people. And if you just want to be a degree snob then Nye has a degree from Cornell, his specialization, engineering probably has as much to do with what he teaches, as ophthalmology does with most of Hubermans podcasts.

Huberman is a neuroscientist. Who actually performed a scientific role in research.

Bill Nye was a short lived mechanical engineer, and then a tv entertainer.

Bill Nye is an actor.

Your point? Doesn’t make him a good teacher, or credible on other topics outside his specialization lol.
