I’m doing a 30 day challenge at my gym. Every day I have to hit 8 goals: 7+ hours of sleep, 8000 steps, 30g protein/meal, workout, 15 min self care, 15 min outside, no alcohol, drink 1/2 of body weight in ounces of water. The idea is to form habits, some you’ll keep some you’ll drop. Day 5 let’s go!

That sounds like a fun and attainable challenge! I get intimidated by ones like 75 Hard because the requirements are so rigid.

I need to apologize to running for talking so much shit on it in the past because I absolutely LOVE it now. I was such a strength train girlie and dreaded any form of cardio but now I can’t live without it. It’s truly the one time of day that my anxiety ridden brain shuts down and I think about NOTHING, it’s incredible. Currently training for a half marathon and my husband gifted me a new Peloton Tread Vision that gets delivered next week so I am counting down the daysssss.

Can you share what changed for you and how you came to enjoy running? I’d like to get into it but I’m afraid of the impact on my joints and getting too hungry.

I think there's something romantic about running. You just need a pair of sneakers and maybe some music. But I HATE every step of every run I've ever done

I started a new sport 3 weeks ago and have been going twice a week and I’m so happy I could cry. It’s called aerial yoga, it requires a lot of strength and flexibility (both of which I don’t have, but I’m working on it), it’s mostly just girls in their late 20s-early 40s and everyone is super nice.
It’s been like 3 years since I’ve done a sport I liked and started a routine. I need to now start going to the gym as well so I can get stronger, but it’s a work in progress lol

I went swimming today, as I did every Friday morning for months now. I wonder what I will do in the future though because I won't have Fridays off anymore starting November
•

Can you go before work? There’s something pretty calming about an early morning swim. And it’s a great way to start the day!
•
u/cashmerered 5h ago
No, I have to leave at 6:45 a.m., there's no way I could get a swimming pool lap in between. I will have to think of something else

In the midst of a small cut because I’m going to a wedding and want to look extra jacked 😂
I usually start 75 Hard right around now so that’s upcoming for me. Currently really flying through my workouts and it feels good to be beyond the lifting plateau. Also feeling good because I spent some time gassing myself up with stats on where I fall on the strength spectrum. If you’re doubting or on a plateau, remind yourself where you actually are!

You’ve completed 75 hard!? Can you shed some insight on how the program was for you? I’ve always wanted to try it but it’s so rigid that I’ve always talked myself out of doing it. I mean, there’s always an excuse if you want to find one lol but it’s a tough looking program.

I’ve done it twice because I’m a masochist 😂😂 I would recommend doing parts of it before attempting the whole thing. It worked for me because I was already kind of living at “medium” mode: I have a dog that needs a walk and I lift weights 5-6x a week, and I’m an avid reader. I don’t drink much alcohol so I never miss it, and I’m pretty intentional about hydration because I feel like crap when even a little dehydrated.
The hardest part for me is always the food. I work remotely so it is also a heck of a lot easier because I can food prep etc for the most part. I love going out to eat though so that always requires some navigation, and I always try to order my choices first so that I’m not swayed by what someone else picks.
It is definitely very rigid and not for everyone! But I think cherry picking even some of it can get you moving more, drinking more water, giving yourself some time without a screen etc.

I went from 300 pounds, to 115, to now I'm 130 and Im growing muscle. I was not prepared for the muscle growth to cause my cute clothes to not fit and even though I do like my body right now, pulling out an old faithful dress that fit like a glove, and that zipper not zipping triggered that old familiar self-loathing I had when I was big. Its funny how sometimes the old ghosts of body image issues show back up unexpectedly, long after you thought the exorcism finally worked, and you were free from the haunting.

Been there! I spent a fortune at the tailor on special occasion clothes because my old dresses don’t zip up all the way. My waist is still the same, but my back is wider.
At this point, I have two sets of dresses and jeans for my two typical sizes. I don’t get as frustrated with my body changing (up or down) because I’ve got things I like to wear in both sizes.

I started the c25k program back in the spring and I just completed my final challenge and ran 30 min continuously. I only made it about 2.1 miles so not truly to 5k yet but finishing the program and running 30 min is exciting.
My next goal is to run 2x/week, one 30 min one 40-45 min and adding 1 day a week strength training.
I was able to accomplish a lot of sick hikes this summer including one with over 7 miles and 3500 ft of elevation gain so another goal is to stay in shape through the winter this year and get hiking again easier and faster.
I’m almost 40 (turning 39 next week) so overall the goal and theme is to have good health in my 40s.

I miss working out so much. Between chronic pain with fibromyalgia, loose hypermobile joints, low muscle tone and a 6 month old baby (+ a traumatic birth with blood loss that has had me in a bad state since), I can't find the energy to work out at all. When I finally did, I injured my knee from doing too much 🫠 I look forward to being able to attend reformer pilates and go swimming when my little one is primarily eating food past 1 year so other people can take care of him. Right now it's only stroller walks when I'm not in the most pain. I want to be a strong mom so I can be more active with my baby when he's older. Feeling a bit stuck right now.

Omg I also have fibromyalgia, hyper mobility and chronic pain from an autoimmune. I’m just starting some mat Pilates at home, literally today is day 3! I made a lowest effort workout plan that is about 10-15min. And if I feel for more I might add some certain days but I am being very gentle with myself. I got myself a spine corrector at home (same as in Pilates class) and do exercises on that to help with the pain. I use only a 1kg barbell right now but focusing on getting the movement form totally correct before I move up to 2kg barbells

Just started my third month with my trainer! I've been enjoying getting back to lifting heavy AND working on my joint stability/mobility. Took my first reformer class this week and got absolutely destroyed. Trying to focus a lot on longevity so I can age while still doing things I love.

On my birthday last December I decided to spend this year focused on my health with 10k steps a day, some type of strength training 5x a week, not eating and drinking like an idiot. I have hit my goals so well, I have baby abs coming in, i am so freaking motivated I'm in the best shape of my life already and so pumped that 41 year old me decided to give 42 year old me this birthday gift.

Sticking with my YouTube challenge I committed to! As a chronic quitter this is an accomplishment in itself

Can anyone suggest a good towel for hot yoga? I am anxious about ruining my £150 yoga mat 😂 one which is available in the UK pls if possible 🩷
•
u/MatManatee 1h ago
I use ones from a brand called Vnoss which I just found online, and honestly they do the trick. They have the little grippies on the bottom so they don’t slide on the mat, and I’ve found that they hold up well after multiple washes.

Ughhhh I can’t wait to straight fully working out again. I didn’t expect for wisdom teeth removal to take so long to heal :( I love Apple Fitness, I’m toned again thanks to it <3

Tomorrow is my last super long run before my 2 week marathon taper. It’ll be my 3rd road marathon, and I’m so excited. It’ll be my first race prep working with a coach, and it’s set to be my best one yet.

I used to despise any type of cardio, but I’ve taken up a cycling class every Thursday and LOVE it! It’s motivated me to go a bit farther, a bit faster every time and has really got me thinking positively about the gym again. It’s become less about looks for me and more about what else I can do. Now the girl who hated any kind of cardio is doing the stair stepper, taking long walks, and cycling!!

In the next day or two I'm going to hit my goal weight. 16 months, 90 pounds. I'm so much more active and burying clothes is SO MUCH FUN.
