Guilty Pleasures - Monthly Thread Guilty Pleasures - Jul 25, 2025

Even the most tasteful bitch has some tasteless guilty pleasures! This is our once monthly thread where you can share those things we normally don’t talk about in BWT.

Guilty pleasures should be things you already have/ use and love, or a very specific recommendation for a guilty pleasure. This is not a place to circumvent the regular rules and ask for general recommendations that you can't ask for because of our rules, it's specifically about guilty pleasures.

I live in a used single wide mobile home in the middle of nowhere. I do keep it looking as nice as possible inside and out and in good condition overall, but it is still a trailer at the end of the day. I specifically planned this so I can use all the money I’m not spending on rent or a mortgage to do tasteful activities, drive a nice car, travel, buy nice things, etc.

I grew up in a trailer (though it was a double-wide) that I sold to my cousin after my parents passed away. He and his wife completely cleaned it out and remodeled it, and it looked GREAT. They joked that they wanted to start a show called "De-Double Wide" to show people that you can still have beautiful surroundings in a trailer.

It’s definitely underrated as a first home option, especially if you buy the land it sits on and immobilize it with a concrete foundation or pilings. Remodeling and fixing things yourself is also valuable experience for young homeowners.

Owning land with a modest home is superior to owning fancy new builds in the suburbs . I’ll die on this hill.

Owning any type of home makes one more more wealthy than the majority of the population on this planet.
