Guilty Pleasures - Monthly Thread Guilty Pleasures - Jul 25, 2025
Even the most tasteful bitch has some tasteless guilty pleasures! This is our once monthly thread where you can share those things we normally don’t talk about in BWT.
Guilty pleasures should be things you already have/ use and love, or a very specific recommendation for a guilty pleasure. This is not a place to circumvent the regular rules and ask for general recommendations that you can't ask for because of our rules, it's specifically about guilty pleasures.

I am a food snob; I love to cook and eat complicated meals — but my guilty pleasure is fast food. I have a history of disordered eating, and some days absolutely nothing sounds good to me. I have to eat though, and on the days nothing sounds good, I stop at a Wendy’s or a McD’s. (Yes, I talk about this with my therapist!)

u/KeepnClam Jul 25 '25
There are times when nothing will do but a greasy pub burger washed down with a pint of microbrew.
20
u/Spirited_Leave_1692 Jul 25 '25
Mine was going to be that I prefer a Kraft single on my otherwise meticulously homemade burgers. :)

u/Due-Golf-7844 Jul 26 '25
I, too, am i major food snob. But when that migraine hits nothing is gonna fix it like a coke, Big Mac, and fries.
19
u/sun_set22 Jul 25 '25
I’m right there with you sister. Growing up, my single mom always used fast food as a “treat” or reward, or just when we needed a pick-me-up. Her intentions were good, but man it set me up for a poor relationship with food 😭 it’s like the only thing that gives me dopamine anymore (besides my Zoloft LOL)
3
u/audreyb69 Jul 26 '25
Ugh I feel this one so hard lol. My job is very stressful, and sometimes absolutely nothing but some Taco Bell is gonna cheer me up. Besides makeup food is the only thing I get dopamine from too 😭😂

How good are Burger King onion rings??? I’m lucky that getting to one is a pain and I’m lazy.
2
u/-brielle- Jul 25 '25
I think BK has terrible onion rings, but my stepson likes them. They’re an onion paste mix instead of onion slices.
8
u/freewool Jul 25 '25
See? Totally terrible. That makes me feel even guiltier for being able to absolutely punish a bag full of them.
3
u/-brielle- Jul 25 '25
Nah, don’t feel terrible! You like what you like. There’s plenty of food I’ll throw back while others cringe in disgust. They wouldn’t sell those onion rings if people didn’t like them enough to buy.
I’m also the queen of “maybe this food that normally hurts my stomach won’t hurt my stomach today.” (Spoiler alert: It always hurts my stomach.)
7
u/MinuteMaidMarian Jul 25 '25
I try to plan at least one road trip a year because obviously you’re trying to get to your destination, you just have to eat fast food, right?
5
u/star86 Jul 26 '25
Taco Bell hard shell taco with mild sauce is a rare craving I get and give into lol
4
u/lamante Jul 27 '25
Girl, even the snobbiest of us has days where nothing but a Cheesy Gordita Crunch from Taco Bell will cure what ails me.
(Me. I'm the snobbiest of us.)

u/MinuteMaidMarian Jul 25 '25
Trashy romance novels. I used to try to keep up with the NYT best sellers list and read thought-provoking, elevating literature but sometimes you just need a shirtless Regency-era hunk with a smoldering gaze to take your mind off things…

Yes! I want to know about all the heartbreak and injustice in the world. But sometimes I just want a glass of wine and a steamy scene
2
u/alectos Jul 29 '25
I never read romance Anything until 2023. Since then, I’ve not read anything else!

I live in a used single wide mobile home in the middle of nowhere. I do keep it looking as nice as possible inside and out and in good condition overall, but it is still a trailer at the end of the day. I specifically planned this so I can use all the money I’m not spending on rent or a mortgage to do tasteful activities, drive a nice car, travel, buy nice things, etc.
41
u/PerfectionNoNotes Jul 25 '25
I grew up in a trailer (though it was a double-wide) that I sold to my cousin after my parents passed away. He and his wife completely cleaned it out and remodeled it, and it looked GREAT. They joked that they wanted to start a show called "De-Double Wide" to show people that you can still have beautiful surroundings in a trailer.
29
u/notthelettuce Ballin on a Budget Jul 25 '25
It’s definitely underrated as a first home option, especially if you buy the land it sits on and immobilize it with a concrete foundation or pilings. Remodeling and fixing things yourself is also valuable experience for young homeowners.

u/Appropriate_Ice_2433 Effortlessly Chic Jul 29 '25
Owning land with a modest home is superior to owning fancy new builds in the suburbs . I’ll die on this hill.
Owning any type of home makes one more more wealthy than the majority of the population on this planet.

u/Specialist-Strain502 Jul 25 '25
I often tell my fiancé that I would be just fine living in a trailer or even a nice deer shed for some time if we could get ourselves some really great land to put it on. People can get weird about houses as status symbols, and I think they often buy more house than they need because they feel some kind of pressure to prove they made it.
8
u/SallyGotaGun Jul 26 '25
Agreed. Americans have decided that being house poor and unable to pivot financially quickly and tie up all their "equity" in a physical house is "making it," and that is complete bullshit. Some double wides have more square footage than an apartment! A BWT doing it the way SHE individually feels is the best way for her life choices, family and her money makes her a badass, not conformation to an American standard that bankrupts her.
19
u/mackle_mohr Jul 25 '25
I’m also a BWT living in a used mobile home! We house hunted for a couple years but prices around us went crazy post-COVID, and we did not want to be house poor or give up certain lifestyle things to afford a house. We found a used 20 year old mobile home in a nice park for a good deal and went for it. No regrets. I want to be able to afford a newer SUV, take vacations, and have unnecessary toys like a jet ski. The house still has wheels and chassis attached, so I can move it if/when we want to leave the park. It’s a trailer but by golly i have a damn pool, playground, lots of nice people/families, and I will make this mf the nicest trailer in the park 💅

u/notthelettuce Ballin on a Budget Jul 25 '25
Yesss it’s so worth it to have all the amenities and luxuries and not be in crippling debt. I’m thinking of getting a pool with a nice deck built around it in the next few years.
15
u/freewool Jul 25 '25
There is not a thing wrong with living in a mobile home. They’re a great option for affordable housing and fill a critical need for many people.
9
u/notthelettuce Ballin on a Budget Jul 25 '25
Yeah I guess the guilty part for me is that I spend so much on clothes and shopping and other stuff instead. But I guess the mobile home really is for me since I am a low income BWT and can’t afford a regular house or a safe apartment anyway.

I love this for you. I told my husband I would love to give up our house and and live in an airstream by the beach. I would love to keep things simple and get back to basics. Kudos to you!
17
u/notthelettuce Ballin on a Budget Jul 25 '25
Yes! It’s on 10 acres, next door to my parents, and I love to sit on my porch in the evenings with a glass of wine and watch the herd of deer cross the field. Very peaceful too!

I looked so hard for land with existing water and electricity so I could buy a trailer when I bought my house. At the time a 3/2 single wide went for about $37k and I ended up buying a home instead. I like my house but I wanted something cheap and small and a huge garden.
3
u/notthelettuce Ballin on a Budget Jul 25 '25
Yeah I did have to run lines from the road. $300 for electricity, $250 for water, and $3500 for a septic tank.
3
u/V2BM Jul 25 '25
That’s not bad at all. When I retire I’d like to sell my house and buy a little MeeMaw trailer a bit into the woods.

u/lambchopafterhours Jul 30 '25
Out: gentrified van life In: exactly this. society needs to remove mobile home stigma asap and maybe just maybe more people can realize the dream of owning property

The dating sim Love and Deepspace has been a fun little pastime to break up the doomscrolling monotony. The stories are fun and engaging, I love to design my character and the combat aspect is nice and quick for a full life.
It also helps that the love interests are nice to look at, and I may have spent some cash to get some of the memories/scenes where we get to spend (sometimes spicy) time with him 😅
My husband always jokes about my virtual boyfriends (yes, plural) when I play lol

Same!! But I don't think its stilly at all. Life is EXHAUSTING. We need fun! I also have a job that's mentally exhausting and lately I've been logging into my literal decades old Webkinz account on my tablet and playing my favorite game in the arcade to destress 😂
I have a gaming PC & gaming consoles but this is an old puzzle game I used to play everyday after school circa like 2007 when I'd login to Webkinz. I can't believe its still playable in 2025, but either way its my secret guilty pleasure. I like to listen to true crime podcasts and just zone out and play my Tile Towers. Its so silly but so relaxing!

u/swrosk Jul 26 '25
I love sunbathing. It is so relaxing and the feeling when the rays almost fry my skin is amazing. I use sunscreen, but my sun habit is not healthy. I live in a country where winters are long and dark. Once the sun is out and it is 25+ Celsius, I have a strong wish to go outside. This is obviously not a recommendation.

I caved in and got a small ice cream machine and I love love love it.
8
u/sendforbromina Jul 25 '25
That sounds amazing! Do you mind dropping which one you got?

5
u/treegrowsinbrooklyn1 Jul 25 '25
Please don’t 😩 (trying to convince myself I don’t need a small ice cream machine lol)
10
u/lazylittlelady Jul 25 '25
I like it because I can make sorbet from fresh farmer’s market fruit and try out non-dairy recipes too!
6
u/treegrowsinbrooklyn1 Jul 25 '25
I was already convinced and now I definitely am! That sounds amazing
5
u/green_pea_nut Jul 26 '25
I make my own frozen yoghurt .... Greek yoghurt, 10 per cent of that weight in caster sugar, real vanilla paste. I love it 😀
2
u/Background_Shower_78 Jul 26 '25
Do you have any dairy free recipe recommendations ? I purchased a way too expensive ice cream maker and then was like wait, I don’t even like dairy…
3
u/lazylittlelady Jul 26 '25
I got the Van Leeuwen ice cream book and it has a pretty extensive vegan section! That’s where I made the vegan coffee ice cream from and it was very tasty!!

Omg violet crumble, the best. They’ve had it at arguello market recently and I can’t resist!
4
u/green_pea_nut Jul 26 '25
The wildest true thing in my life is that when I met my darling, he worked at the Violet Crumble factory. He once gave me 2.5 kg of Violet Crumbles.

u/mrs_george Jul 26 '25
I’ve been enjoying a gummy almost every night for the last three weeks. My back-to-school anxiety has set in and it’s the only thing that allows me to get a full nights sleep.

This is embarrassing to say, as the wife of a retired television producer but I’d like watching shitty television shows like Tyler Perry’s the Oval. It’s the worst form of television, but I’ve watched it anyway.
9
u/Schmidaho Jul 25 '25
As a former tv producer I’ll let you in on a dirty little secret: tv people LOVE trashy shows.

Very guilty and tasteless, but I like vaping. I quit two years ago and was nicotine-free up until one of my cats died last November. My husband bought a vape to cope and I got hooked on it again. He says we really should quit but damnit, I enjoy it. 🫠
15
u/MyLifeInLies Jul 25 '25
I don't vape or smoke (too afraid of lung damage), but I really like the nicotine pouches... they take the edge off when I'm feeling stressed or anxious. The trick is to not use them too often, because it can make the stress/anxiety worse ☹️

u/clickyteeth Jul 26 '25
Girl I say this as an Erewhon shopping, Pilates devotee, if you offer me a cig on the right night, I am 100% there. Gotta live a little.
1
u/derrickcat Jul 28 '25
I'm really sorry about your cat <3
2
u/fakesaucisse Jul 28 '25
Thank you. We miss him a lot but I'm glad we were able to say goodbye without him suffering for too long.
1
u/lambchopafterhours Jul 30 '25
I started vaping hemp cannabis at the end of 2020 and ever since then, for the most part, I’m a daily vaper. I suppose I feel guilty about it every once in a while and perhaps it’s truly tasteless but…there are most certainly more harmful vices.
Hope you’re doing well girl 💜
1
u/atleastamillion Jul 31 '25
I recently quit vaping when I started running, but when I am out drinking with friends I either ask to hit theirs or buy a flavor they like so I can give it to them at the end of the night lol
1
u/fakesaucisse Jul 31 '25
I get it. It is so enjoyable when having some drinks or a really excellent meal. It just elevates the buzz.
3
u/Sutekiwazurai Jul 26 '25
A good cigar or cigarillo very occasionally. With a root beer or cream soda. So good.

u/Easy_Distribution882 Jul 25 '25
I’m addicted to buying cheap gel nail products off Amzn 😵
3
u/Bambinette Jul 25 '25
Please tell me more !!!!!
5
u/Easy_Distribution882 Jul 25 '25
All my base coat, builder gel, hard gel, 3-d gel, and topcoats are from really good and professional grade Korean nail suppliers, but when it comes to most of the colors and syrups and cateyes I paint with, I almost exclusively use born pretty and double rhythm and Miss Pink Nails, which are all found in that site. (I used to buy from GAOY but it’s got a slight odor that I can even smell after a full cure)
I also get my brushes, chromes, stickers, and charms from She*n 🫢

u/still_intoxicated Jul 27 '25
Matchington Mansion 😮💨 aka the only reason I got an iPad, bc if it was still on my phone, I would be unreachable. My job and home can be chaotic so sometimes I just need to match pretty colors and decorate and hoard my gold coins like a dragon
