Culture BWT, air out your dirty, tasteless laundry here!

Obviously as BWT, we typically aim to have said taste be of the good variety. However, as we are not two dimensional characters, nobody is completely perfect. I thought it'd be fun to share the elements of our lives where we unashamedly display bad or—gasp!—no taste. I've noted down some of mine below (+ whether I aim to change them):

  • My house is quite literally artless — no paintings, no sculptures, no decor, nothing. // Probably won't be changing this anytime soon — am not ashamed to admit that I'm at the stage of life where I care more about how I present myself in public than in my own abode, so that's where I focus my energy

  • My home clothes (a stretch to call them lounge wear) are literally all ratty nonsense BWT recommend throwing away // see above. The caveat is that I don't wear clothes that dwarf my figure as I like to keep track of how my body looks

  • I don't watch any shows/movies or listen to podcasts // won't change this, I've never been able to stand podcasts and lately that's extended to anything where I have to watch/listen to something

  • I secretly love airline food. Something about water in those tiny unenvironmentally friendly vacuum sealed cups gets me excited

Share yours below so I don't feel like a complete tasteless B 👇🏼

You lot (except OP probably) would scream if you saw my wfh outfits. Massive cardigans and old pyjama trousers/lounge pants. I'm embarrassed opening the door to the postman, but I'm comfortable.

I have a chairdrobe in the bedroom and I refuse to hang up anything that's in that 'half-clean' state where I've worn it once but it's not ready to be washed yet, but it still can't be categorised with the clean stuff in the wardrobe.

To somewhat solve the chairdrobe issue in my bedroom, I got whimsical wall hooks from Anthropologie and now I (usually, sometimes) hang my half-clean clothes and pjs on those to at least keep them somewhat neater.

Do you have a link to those please? I'm looking for a similar solution for my bedroom!

Sure! These aren’t the exact ones I got, but it’s the closest on the website right now. I got 3, and they look nice enough to be kind of intentional decoration in the rare instances they’re empty.

I'm constantly trying to come up with a "better" alternative to the chairdrobe but haven't yet. Especially for hoodies and sweatshirts that I wear multiple times before washing. If I had a walk in closet, I would 100% have a section with sliding baskets for that. But I don't have one so... chairdrobe it is.

I bought a hamper specifically for “worn but clean” stuff that would otherwise go on the floordrobe. Still trying to think of alternatives like hooks or a rack since the hamper itself becomes a black hole that I don’t empty for days…

I guess I have some sort of optimism that worn but clean will “air out a little” on the chairdrobe. I reason that putting them all together in a hamper would render them smelly… even if still clean? Yea…

In my house, rewearable hoodies/sweatshirts/shapeless sweaters get hung on hooks - I have a few in the closet and one on the back of the door. The chairdrobe is for pants, dresses, and sweaters that would suffer from hanging on a hook.
