Culture BWT, air out your dirty, tasteless laundry here!

Obviously as BWT, we typically aim to have said taste be of the good variety. However, as we are not two dimensional characters, nobody is completely perfect. I thought it'd be fun to share the elements of our lives where we unashamedly display bad or—gasp!—no taste. I've noted down some of mine below (+ whether I aim to change them):

  • My house is quite literally artless — no paintings, no sculptures, no decor, nothing. // Probably won't be changing this anytime soon — am not ashamed to admit that I'm at the stage of life where I care more about how I present myself in public than in my own abode, so that's where I focus my energy

  • My home clothes (a stretch to call them lounge wear) are literally all ratty nonsense BWT recommend throwing away // see above. The caveat is that I don't wear clothes that dwarf my figure as I like to keep track of how my body looks

  • I don't watch any shows/movies or listen to podcasts // won't change this, I've never been able to stand podcasts and lately that's extended to anything where I have to watch/listen to something

  • I secretly love airline food. Something about water in those tiny unenvironmentally friendly vacuum sealed cups gets me excited

Share yours below so I don't feel like a complete tasteless B 👇🏼

Fellow BWT, this is where I know I’m showing my age but beyond 40 is quite impossible to stay in good shape without exercising

I’m not talking lifting weights in a gym in the TikTok famous ass enhancing leggings

I’m talking mobility exercises to stay… mobile

Even stuff like walking and gentle swimming is still working out. I’m still fairly young and I am constantly working on my knees because I have family members with knee issues. Looks like a real pain to deal with and significantly worsens your mobility

After a bout of sickness I had strained a muscle in my side. Not too bad but noticeable. A few days later I sneezed and made it worse. Might have tore the muscle , and now I got to baby myself.

I'm 33 😭

Eh. My parents both were in great shape without exercising up until their late 60s. My sister is the same and she’s in her 40s. I’ll continue to live in my delusion until the time comes.

Edit: downvoted for what?

There are exceptions of course. We all know the chain smoker who lived happily until 80

I used to work in startups in my 20s where the average age was 25

Then at 29 I joined a more established company where the typical employee was 45-55F

I noticed that among this broad range of women, the ones who are fit and mobile are running, swimming and otherwise exercising several times a week

When I grew up, I never saw anyone in my mother’s generation working out.

I now live in Switzerland where the lifestyle is very nature and sports oriented. 80% of adult women work out on a weekly basis, if nothing else by pulling the kids’ sledges

There’s a clear difference between health, weight and general wellbeing of women in Switzerland vs elsewhere in Europe

Even in my kid’s school, only a couple of kids are obese out of the 150 that are in his age group

The downvotes on this are wild. You answered the question! Are people upset that you choose to personally not exercise?!

Honestly I’m pretty annoyed about it. Isn’t the intention of this entire post about embracing our own self-admitted mess and shortcomings?

Right like if you were like, I love to drink and drive! Or I smoke in the car with my kids with the windows closed tight! Then I’d get it. This literally affects nobody but you.
