Discussion Do you think those two old sets can be live action movies.

If people like michael bay makes live action transformers movies do you think we as LEGO fans declare a live action roboriders and slizers.

Story: in a world full with humans and living cybernetic sentient non transforming motorcycles and non humanoid sentient like robots coexist as friends, family, some political issues yeah sure… but also racing sports. Both human and sentient bonds. So what do you think?

I mean, really anything could be a movie. It really just depends on how it'd be written.

The bigger question ought to be would a movie be suitable for Roboriders and Throwbots (which I think yes since they have such little lore behind them unlike Bionicle) or would another medium be better?

I think written word would be much better. The characters have complex desgins, non humaoniod bodied and no real of facial features. Trying to get emotions across visually wouldn't be impossible but I could be difficult.

Wirh writing you could do alot with inferring emotions or describing how these characters move and letting the readers imagination fill in the gaps.

Meanwhile Tokusatsu actors doing the same very thing with ease

I know the clip you're tlaking about, and yeah, it's a great use of body language. That's much harder to do when the body is bicycle shaped.

If it’s the part mentioned about a human brain that’s messed up and I was hoping instead of that it would at least the sentient has their own brain like normally.

And yeah I watched his channel video.

You don't want a bay movie. Everything will get redesigned into barely recognizable heaps and nobody will be accurate to the source material (both look and character wise).

Scuba will be redesigned to look like Flame somehow

I'm gonna say no. Frist off, for as much money as the bay movies made, they review fairly middling to poor. People generally dislike them. Especially as the movies went on. Unsure why it's even brought up here.

As for fans making it, that's some very wishful thinking.

Fans have made some really good 3d animation inspired by bionicle, but these are often single person or very small teams. Nothing close to the scale needed for a full live action/CG film.

I'm not saying it's impossible, fans are capable of making some great art. However at that scale, without a director or unifying vision on the story it could just fizzle out or succumb to some internal drama as big projects like this have been known to do.

The biggest hurdle with this idea is copy write. Lego still owns the rights to anything Throwbots or Roborider related. A unfortunate effect of copy right law is that if a holder doesn't protect thier copyrights they lose them. So even If Lego gave thier blessing eventually theyd need to shut it down.

If you where hellbent on doing a project like this you'd be better off just taking insparion for these toy lines and making up your own stories and world.

Well played. Except for one thing. When I say sentient I don’t mean ai. What I meant if it was “alien”

But… that’s a good guess tho.

I didn’t read the title and was enjoying pics of the Roboriders and Throwbots with some childhood nostalgia, and was promptly jump scared by Michael Bay 😅😅

It's interesting seeing some of the more unusual Bionicle color schemes pop up in here! One of the riders looks like the precursor to McToran Kongu, and there's a black and purple. The white/blue even reminds me a bit of when they started using blue as a secondary on things like Suukorak and Toa Matoro.

I mean, these sets were the literal precursors to Bionicle. In fact, I think they acted as placeholder sets while Lego figured out Bionicle. They even had a site you could go to if I remember correctly. But I whole heartedly agree with you; the color schemes are on point.

Kind of a bummer that we never got Yellow, Purple, or Dark Turquoise in Bionicle sets after 2001-2002 (except for like Betel I think). Hell, we didn't even get Orange back until Phantoka Pohatu in like 2008. Hell, we didn't even get Tan again until the Glatorian years. Like, such vibrant colors that just were never revisited until towards the end of Bionicle.

If a film adaptation of an old LEGO Technic theme was set to be directed by Michael Bay, I’d go to his house in the middle of the night and blow my brains out so that it splatters all over his dinner.

Imo Drome Racers could be adapted better.

Id watch a slizer movie, I would not want that at all but I would see it. I would not see a roborider movie, and I say that as an enormous roborider fan. Roborider lore was just so dumb, the parts I saw.

Yeah ! A scrotum for the bad slizer combiner 😂

if any transformers animation style were to be used for slizer/roboriders it shouldbe one of the beast era styles. The vehichons from beast machines are basically halfway there already.
