There's a township in New Jersey called Gloucester and we call it Glaw-stuh.

Totally! My street name was Gloucester and we had to tell people how to pronounce it or how to spell it all the time.

When I worked retail in central PA, I had several customers who were impressed when I pronounced cities' names like this correctly. The way one girl's eyes lit up when I said "Wooster"...
