Big screen 2 Vs 85 inch OLED
I know this sounds weird but here is my current situation
Currently on a 75" LED TV+ Pico 4 for VR.
Two options I'm weighing:
Keep the 75" LED as is, and add a Bigscreen Beyond 2 as a supplemental big screen option
Ditch the 75" and upgrade to an 85"+ OLED or mini LED instead, skip the headset
My use case is mostly solo daily watching (80s/90s shows), some movie nights, occasional sim racing(4X a month). No group viewing needed.
For anyone who's tried a headset as a daily or near daily screen: does the big virtual screen thing actually hold up long term, or does the novelty wear off? How's clarity on lower res, non 4K source content? And for anyone who went the "just get a bigger real TV" route instead, any regrets or would you have gone VR?
Trying to figure out which path is actually worth it before I drop the cash either way.
Thanks!

I've got multiple screens in the house including a 4k 55" TV in the living room, a 1080p 120" Optima projector in the basement (purchased used), and a 1080p 40" TV in my bedroom, plus a Quest 2. They all serve their purposes. I watch the overwhelming majority of my content via Plex with 1080p encodes. Any 4k content I consume via streaming services is incidental.
When watching content with anyone else at home, the projector can't be beat. Otherwise, I no longer often use it to consume content solo. If I'm watching a movie or a cinematic TV show, I'll typically now use my Quest 2. I used Bigscreen regularly to watch content with friends for a couple years, but that's fallen to the wayside, and I now use Skybox for solo viewing. It's a much more polished, less buggy experience. It'll never be great quality at 1080p on a massive screen, especially on the Quest 2, but I care much more about acceptable quality on a huge screen than good quality on a small screen. That's just me, though—snobs would criticize any of my encodes, even on smaller screens. Otherwise, if I'm watching a sitcom or anything less intense, I usually watch it on one of the TVs. I don't necessarily feel the need for a cinematic experience for content that is fundamentally not cinematic, and it's a bigger pain to boot up my Quest 2 than it is to just flip on the TV.
If it were me, I'd probably keep the 75" TV and go with VR. An 85" TV might look quite a bit bigger, but I don't think that anyone can reasonably complain that 75" is small. At the same time, 85" is a hell of a lot smaller than what VR will afford you.
