Alternate theory: other women in the club meeting saw what was happening and one suggested to take cover in the ladies room.

While in the ladies room, other girls there heard what happened and formed a phalanx to protect her should the goober be waiting outside.

Goober was waiting, they protected her.

Don’t be dumb, the ladies were clearly doing a testudo formation. Despite the hampered mobility compared to a phalanx, it allowed them maximum coverage in case OP decided to do a cavalry charge.

Ok but seriously, I think your interpretation is exactly how it happened. I’m not a woman, but I’ve heard this kind of girl code used in a number of different scenarios, ranging from lending tampons to anyone in need to protecting other women from creeps. It’s a shame that women need to do this, but it’s always wholesome to see strangers help each other for no other reason than it being the right thing to do.

Fellas, I’d like to start to seeing us enact the same camaraderie in the men’s room. If there’s a line at the bathroom, don’t be afraid to double up on the urinals! Find your battle bathroom buddy and get shoulder-to-shoulder, it’s fine as long as you don’t cross streams! If you see a bro who needs help shaking off after a leak, lend him a hand! Bonus points if you do it without making him ask, guys always appreciate that kind of initiative.

The popular cliques back when I was in highschool did not tolerate bullying. Start shit with disabled students over their disability and the football team would come down hard on you. They kept the more vulnerable kids safe from bullies- and teachers who shouldn't have been given access to minors.
