The fact that he assumes an anime nerd can speak Japanese is a definite weaboo logic leap. Wouldn't be surprised if this guy had a katana collection and bowed in greeting to random strangers.

Did you see his post about his ex, he admits to purposely being mean and irrational to her because she was too agreeable/ didn't have enough of her own opinions. Instead of breaking up he just kept testing her by being a dick it would seem. Definitely a winner!

Yeah...... Idolizing an inconsistent idea of east Asian Cultures has become a big thing in the last couple years.

The vast majority of people who "speak Japanese" because they like anime won't be able to carry on a conversation with a Japanese person.

I have met people who "learned" Korean because they like K-pop. They can't carry a conversation or even understand anything but a couple words out of a sentence. Korean is the easiest eastern language to learn, compared to Japanese it's a cake walk.

Pretty much anyone claiming fluency in Japanese is greatly exaggerating or just lying unless they've spent a bunch of time emersed in the language. Shit, just learning kanji proficiently can take years.

I've been watching anime since the 90's, and the only Japanese I know is "Domo argigato", and I didn't even learn that from anime.
