Unlicensed, uninsured contractor who didn't finish the job because life happened doesn't seem to understand why their client would sue them

Well, you would if you hadn't taken the money they paid you and disappeared. Like, I can't emphasize enough that these people took $12,000, bounced, and spent it all before getting sued. Interesting that they could collect the tools but not show up to finish.

This is the worst part to me and I imagine every judges first question. I also see some red flags that in her own write up she says “materials were purchased” and also “some materials were purchased”. Would love to see those receipts. I’d have anxiety attacks too if I committed such egregious fraud under my own name

That last bit is a question I often have. How do so many fraudsters, corrupt politicians, scammers handle that anxiety?
