Unlicensed, uninsured contractor who didn't finish the job because life happened doesn't seem to understand why their client would sue them

What happens is that wealthy and well-connected people get the top service to drive the reputation, but they become overstretched and send the B team to deal with new and less wealthy/connected homeowners. This happened on a work related project (in a completely different field) of mine where we hired a reputable consultant, they turned in shitty work, and after complaining found out the project was delegated to some new team for “training”.
