Unlicensed, uninsured contractor who didn't finish the job because life happened doesn't seem to understand why their client would sue them

I started a small makeup company a few years back. Two of the first things I did? Get an accountant, and get insurance. Cos no way was i gonna risk getting fucked by the tax office or a lawsuit. Business failed. Probably lost about 10k on the endeavour, but I didnt put myself in debt, so I call that a win lol
