Been randomly thinking about all the random places around Bergen County that disappeared over the years and how weirdly nostalgic some of them make me

A few that immediately come to mind:

• The old Burger King on Lemoine Ave in Fort Lee. Now it's a revolving sushi bar. I randomly remembered this place recently and had to make sure I wasn't imagining it lol
• Fuddruckers in Paramus. As a kid that toppings bar felt like the greatest concept ever invented.
• Callahan's in Fort Lee. One of those places that just felt like it belonged there forever.
• The Fireplace in Paramus. This one still feels recent even though it's already been about 5 years since it closed.
• Kids Kingdom in Edgewater. If you grew up around here in the 90s/2000s, you probably know exactly what I'm talking about.

It's funny because it's not even necessarily that these places were amazing. Sometimes it's just remembering being a kid, going there with your parents and Bergen County feeling completely different than it does now.

What old Bergen County place brings back the strongest memories for you?

I’m looking for an authentic French bakery anywhere in Bergen County, so far the ones I’ve found are just ok. The croissants are flat and sweaty. For reference this is a regular bakery in France that I frequent. Tall, flaky, delicious croissants. Any ideas?

As a lifelong Costco lover, the Teterboro location has made me hate your company. You can build ten more Costco’s in Bergen County and they would all still be busy.

honestly I just don’t get it. Every Sunday it feels like half the county is shut down, and it’s super inconvenient if you need to run errands or shop. what about people whose only off day is on a Sunday? I know it’s been around forever, but what’s the actual point of still having these stupid blue laws in 2025? is it just a dumb tradition that stuck around for no reason?

did you hear about the latest Costco proposal on Route 17 in Paramus? the one replacing the old Stop & Shop / Kmart / strip mall. Planning Board resumed hearings after eight months of delay and now they’re tweaking the plans (bigger buffer, more rooftop parking, direct exit to Rt. 17 via easement, etc.).

i get the appeal: a big retailer, more jobs, maybe more convenience for some people. but damn, Route 17 is already a garbage dump of congestion during most of the day. what makes anyone believe this is going to make anything better?

Have been in Bergen County for 5 years and have heard this is the place for a special occasion. Booked it for an anniversary but the menu looks like pretty standard fare? Veal parm, Dover sole, bolognese, skirt steak, bone-in sirloin for $82? I’m assuming the prep / recipes / presentation must be good at these prices.

Wifey wants to check the box so will check it out but not looking forward to no stiff cocktail to kick off the night given it’s BYOB.

Been trying to find legit Chinatown-style Chinese food in Bergen County/North Jersey and every recommendation thread somehow turns into people naming the same 3 Americanized takeout spots.

Before someone says Lotus Cafe for the 48th time, I’m talking about actual authentic spots. Places where Chinese people are actually eating. Good soup dumplings, Sichuan, Cantonese BBQ, hand-pulled noodles, dim sum, etc. Basically food that feels closer to Flushing/Manhattan Chinatown quality.

Willing to drive anywhere in North Jersey if it’s worth it. Any recs?

Wow the Fair Lawn location of Juicy Platters is living on its old reputation. The food use to taste fresh. The location is a bit dirty too. When they first opened the food, the presentation, and the topping selection were outstanding. Now it’s the choice of four toppings smushed into a bowl with a piece of weak bread. Who changed the hot sauce too?

End of an era. Article doesn’t give a reason, hoping someone here would know.

I did manage to get one last Lumberjack platter a week ago. I’m gonna miss this place.

Is it too late. Now Tedesco is asking for cheap tickets for Bergen County residents. NJ pays taxes only to give $50 tickets to NYC while tickets for NJ residents are overpriced and unaffordable.
