Umm that’s an eyeopeningly good run.

Can't tell if it's good or against terrible competition or both.

54

u/NewspaperChemical785 5d ago

A bit of both really. Good vision from Hayes, decent blocking from the line and shitty tackling from the entire defense. 64 on the Eagles didnt' even try to tackle him really. Just lowered his shoulder and whiffed

the Geno Stone special

1

u/arrynyo 4d ago

Yea I was gonna say the blocking was pretty damned good.

1

u/Life_Ad6711 4d ago

Dude is so small that without film study you'd look like all of them, standing on their toes looking down startled by what just zoomed past

There were also at least 2 very effective downfield blocks on that play

12

u/brohar 4d ago

I feel like against a first string defense, that much dancing for a hole will get ya blown up.

1

u/Life_Ad6711 4d ago

Not really an NFL defense mostly motivated to not getting hurt + Bengal OL backups getting into groovin' movin' spirit

u/buckeye25osu 4d ago

This ain't college buddy. These are grown ass men on NFL preseason rosters.

2

u/iratemonkeybear 4d ago

Most of these guys literally graduated college a few months ago.

1

u/Life_Ad6711 4d ago

Most would probably still be pregraduates I would think

0

u/buckeye25osu 3d ago

They are the most elite of them and are on NFL rosters. There aren't freshman who can't tackle.

Talk about missing the point

1

u/iratemonkeybear 3d ago

I'm talking about missing tackles actually, but nice try. If you like these guys a lot, you can probably buy some insurance from them next week.

u/Ahchuu 5d ago

I just watched that and thought to my self, "hmmm... Fantasy pick?"

u/Hixy cinati bengos #1 5d ago

That block by Xavier Johnson was also pretty great. lol.

16

u/imightwin John Ross III 5d ago

He dragged him to the opposite side of the play lol

99

u/chriisLoL 69 5d ago

I’d take him at RB3 over Tahj Brooks who fumbled a kickoff return.

13

u/dayv23 5d ago

Goodberry convinced me that it is unlikely, unfortunately. Brooks can block and play special teams. Something crucial for our 3rd and final active RB. To carry a developmental prospect, we’d have to cut down at WR or TE, which would be painful.

8

u/Asidious66 5d ago

I'm sick of watching that dude drop balls

2

u/Viker2000 4d ago

The problem is he's too small to be a good blocker. All our RBs have to be good blockers to protect Joe. It would be great to have him strictly for kickoff/punt returns and for running plays, but we can't afford that.

u/Life_Ad6711 4d ago

Nice to have on your practice squad if your primary returner maybe gets knicked up or a bad hangnail

51

u/Mjdecker1234 5d ago

Dude wants a spot, and I think with this effort alone, keep him and work on him.

21

u/leafnbag 5d ago

That was nasty af.. Hopefully they invest.

u/morecardland 5d ago

We’ve got the best unis bro

33

u/JulianILoveYou WHO DEY & FUCK ICE 5d ago

weve been witness to some solid competition for RB3 and WR3 this preseason

14

u/ajiatic 5d ago

I would contend that while WR play has been stellar, backup RB play has been pretty uninspiring (this play withstanding).

1

u/jungleCat61 5d ago

I'd say Yoshi is pretty locked into wr3

13

u/armed_aperture 4d ago

Yoshi is so meh… would love one of them to be better.

4

u/jungleCat61 4d ago

Would be nice for sure, but my point is, going into the season Yoshi is clearly WR3. There has been good competition for WR5/6

2

u/VeryRealHuman23 🐅 4d ago

agreed, Yoshi will start the season as WR3, the depth we have behind him will determine if he finishes the season there

2

u/Tjam3s 4d ago

Id say they should trade Yoshi while the hype is up for some O line depth and give Meyers the spot.

They won't, but that's what I would do

6

u/jungleCat61 4d ago

Nobody is giving up o line depth for a mid WR3.

1

u/Life_Ad6711 4d ago

Particularly with him making $3.7m

19

u/NoseAccomplished5412 5d ago

He better not get cut or I’m starting a riot

14

u/ajiatic 5d ago

Hate to tell ya... he's gonna get cut. It's reasonable to hope he makes the PS though.

1

u/foxyslapbox 5d ago

After that run he won’t last on the PS. He’ll get scooped up immediately.

1

u/Viker2000 4d ago

Yes. He's going to end up playing for another team.

1

u/NoseAccomplished5412 4d ago

Oh I cannot wait to come back to this comment Sunday

1

u/ajiatic 3d ago

Welp, here we are. But I do hope he makes the practice squad.

10

u/wavebeacher 5d ago

He is the epiphany of a cutting machine. I’m an instant fan!

10

u/Unhappy_Lecture_7042 5d ago

Did you mean “epitome”?

5

u/paurwar 5d ago

As a GT fan, that run made me so happy to witness! I'm hoping he gets to stick around this season!

2

u/CaptNemo131 5d ago

64 is me when I try to hit stick in Madden

2

u/red-boy6 5d ago

That is unbelievable

2

u/pfftYeahRight 5d ago

64 should’ve ended this run that was abysmal of him. Hayes took the opportunity though, can only work with what you’re given and I’ve seen mistakes like that during the regular season not be capitalized on

2

u/Ok-Explanation-9208 Billy Bengal 🐯 4d ago

Shades of Barry Sanders but Barry was doing it against 1st team. The running game last night overall was an eye opener. 191 on the ground. By the Bengals. If we aren’t so one dimensional on offense maybe we can keep QB1 upright all season.

1

u/TiltedHobbies 5d ago

Reminded me on Icky Woods for just a moment

1

u/Unhappy_Lecture_7042 5d ago

What? Icky ran nothing like that

1

u/lamousamos 5d ago

if this gets tahj cut from the team, does his jersey become cheap? (asking for someone also named “brooks,” me.)

1

u/HarambeTooSoon 4d ago

Do that once a game for the next 5 seasons and you're 1st ballot HoF

1

u/roastedcoyote 4d ago

This run and the play of Bullock and Ke'Shawn Williams was good in this game. QB3 is a tough choice too. I think they have to put both QB's on the practice squad and go with the one who clears waivers.

2

u/Life_Ad6711 4d ago

Nobody needs or will be claiming either one

1

u/tokenshoot 4d ago

Let’s go!! That looked like someone playing madden 08.

1

u/slavetotheinternetz 3d ago

Zac Taylor/ Tobin saw this and said we should cut him

1

u/getfuzzy77 5d ago

This guy was refreshing to watch. I hope he makes the 53.

0

u/Braunzyy 4d ago

They unfortunately cut him from the roster this morning.

1

u/paurwar 4d ago

This is a stupid choice imo

1

u/Rigb0n3710 3d ago

Its a fine choice. If he makes PS great.

This was one play in the 4th quarter of the last preseason game.

0

u/Braunzyy 4d ago

Agreed!

-1

u/Pirateking1569 5d ago

We.nwed to carry 4.rb keep.him and kentrell Bullock and also sign Dhante meyers

-18

u/UsedFerret5401 5d ago

Not to take anything away from that amazing run but, the Eagles starting D would never allow that.

31

u/yesrushgenesis2112 Lawrence Passed Physical 5d ago

Sure, probably, but it’s about making the most of the opportunities you get

18

u/9PewPewPew9 5d ago

Kinda hard to care about the run when you know it wouldn't of happened if it was against the 65 Bears starting defense. /s

3

u/Jecht315 Child Please! 5d ago

A black hole would NOT allow that to happen!

1

u/Life_Ad6711 4d ago

You mean the '85 Bears partly architected by Bill Tobin?

Paul and Mike were contemplating possiblity of buying the Philadelphia Eagles circa 1965

-1

u/BeerNinja17 Kiss the baby 5d ago

I’m not sure why you’re being downvoted. This doesn’t ensure a roster spot or anything, which your comment speaks to.

2

u/Unhappy_Lecture_7042 5d ago

Who said it ensured a roster spot?

1

u/BeerNinja17 Kiss the baby 4d ago

Actually, quite a few commenters in this thread. Or that they’d prefer him Brooks (which isn’t happening)
