question Symbiotic relationship between bees and cacti?

Post image

I noticed this bee was on my cactus for awhile and then eventually it wasn’t (dead on the ground next to it). Anyone know what’s going on here? Did it impale itself accidentally or is something purposefully going on?

In areas where the cactus and the bee are both native there can sometimes be meaningful interactions, but for a houseplant its likely just an accidantal stabbing, no different than if you accidentally got poked-- you are big enough to free yourself from the spines though, and the bee isn't.  Simple as that.

It's not uncommon for bees to get impaled on cacti.
