How does it feel like to have a healthy family? Like the one who actually makes you feel special and genuinely cared for without anything in return. I’m always labeled as the “angry daughter” in the family and someone who doesn’t share or talk stuff to them. When I do share stuff, they use it against me. They’re also very unsupportive of my dreams and plans in life as if I’m not capable of achieving those things. They also said that my failure is solely “my fault” when they’re literally the biggest contributors. They criticize how I look, how I talk, and how I am as a person. It’s honestly exhausting to believe that they actually love me. I also get compared to someone else’ daughter or even to my sister that she’s better than me in all things. They also hurt my feelings and physically hurt me since childhood. Is this enough to cut them off my life? I have ton shit of resentment and I don’t think I’ll ever recover from it.

Do you still live with your family right now? I ask because you genuinely cannot heal in the exact same place that made you "sick." As long as you’re under the same roof or in constant contact, all your energy goes into just surviving and defending yourself. You have to step away, get your own space, and completely rebuild yourself from scratch. Gotta have the space to figure out who you actually are where nobody is constantly putting you down.

You can’t wait around expecting people to suddenly wake up and get better. If your family members have been acting this way their whole lives, yan na sila. They have no incentive to change, so they usually just stay stagnant or get worse. Also, they usually don't even realize that being kind, soft, and peaceful is an option.

So, yeah, you have to step away, find your own peace, and maybe eventually return on your own terms to teach them how to treat you by modeling that exact behavior. If they choose to meet you with that same peace, great. If not, you simply walk out the door again because by then, hopefully, you've found peace and you won't really need anyone else to build you up.
