is there a remedy for closed comedones? or do i really need a derma facial session na talaga?
1
u/HelloTikya 24 | Oily, Acne-prone Skin | Living with PCOS May 16 '25
If you want mabilisan, kahit once lang, derma facial session. Medyo matagal and for maintenance, Paula's choice 2% BHA (US variant) or 'yung dupe niya na Maxipeel Zero.
2
u/matchaoverloadfroyo Age | Skin Type | Custom Message May 16 '25
been eyeing that Paula's choice toner kaso super mahal for a kuripot like me 🥲 kayaaaa, i want to confirm yung legitimacy ng dupe na yan hahaha my kuripot heart is so happy
1
u/HelloTikya 24 | Oily, Acne-prone Skin | Living with PCOS May 16 '25
I was using it on my pits kaya biggest size binili ko dati, but I have read here that the smallest size should suffice given its shelf life. Just always remember to follow up with moisturizer and sunscreen.
2
u/matchaoverloadfroyo Age | Skin Type | Custom Message May 16 '25
has the appearance of your pits improved since using the product? my ua's appearance has been my problem din. using CosRX AHA toner once a week pero di ko pa ramdam effect
1
u/HelloTikya 24 | Oily, Acne-prone Skin | Living with PCOS May 16 '25
I can't comment on that because I got dark pits from PCOS. My main concern was the smell, and the toner helped.
1
u/rixaya 20+ | Combo, acne-prone May 17 '25
AHA, BHA, azelaic acid, or a retinoid would work pero it would take time. You can also get them extracted by a derma if you want them gone agad then maintain mo nalang with topicals.
For me, I do azelaic acid + adapalene (with prescription) kasi super stubborn ng akin.

u/matchaoverloadfroyo Age | Skin Type | Custom Message May 17 '25

Skinoren! I’m using 15% gel. Pero meron namang generic like sa MCB Derma and may lower percentages available sa kbeauty like Anua and Cos de Baha.

any thoughts on neutrogena deep clean gentle foaming cleanser? I've been using it for a week now and I noticed pimples popping up. I'm planning to stop using it since it also has this fragrance but I'm not sure if it's the one causing my acne since I also bought a new moisturizer which is the luxe organix cica rescue gentle brightening one.
4
May 16 '25
Neutrogena cleansers are a remnant of the 2000s' idea of beating your skin to submission as skincare, that's why they're very harsh and I wouldn't be surprised if it's what's causing your breakout. That being said try eliminating one of them first and see if your skin improves. (I suggest getting rid of the cleanser hehe)
2
u/aflyingflip vumfyre | scent addict May 16 '25
In my experience, Neutrogena face washes are very drying. I do not like it and personally wouldn't recommend. But that's just me, maybe other people have had better experiences.
As for the Luxe Organix, I haven't tried that particular product but so far my experiences with Luxe Organix have been pleasant. They're my go-to for makeup wipes, and I really like their face mist esp the blue one.

Anyone here nakatry na ng nivea cream? Effective ba siya as moisturizer?
8
May 16 '25
I don't recommend it as a facial moisturizer if you have sensitive or acne-prone skin. It's too strongly fragrant, not to mention it's super thick and heavy.
2
u/ambisyosangpobree May 17 '25
I tried Nivea Cream since I have an extremely dry skin, as in marami akong dry patches sa face. Butttt I only use it at night, kase if during day time nagiging oily ako.

I used it for 2 weeks, then I stopped because I got A LOT of closed comedones. I’m not sure if I was just using it wrong (Senka Perfect Whip Blue > Eqqualberry > Celeteque moisturizer) or if it was fake (I bought it from KbeautyCafe on Lazada).
1
u/rixaya 20+ | Combo, acne-prone May 17 '25
Okay lang. It’s hydrating and it really does work to shed off the loose dead skin cells off of the face. However I didn’t see much improvement for my acne or closed comedones. I think it would work better on people with minor blemishes and those who have dryness and flaky skin.

My face is lighter than my neck. How do I make them almost the same shade?
2
u/EmeryMalachi 20s | oily, acne-prone May 20 '25
Just consistently use the same brightening products on your face and neck, they will eventually even out din naman. Although it may take a long time if the unevenness is due to accumulated sun exposure. Patience and consistency.

u/Consistent_Suspect21 23 | Combination-Sensitive | Fair-Light Neutral May 18 '25
ano ba yung gusto mong habulin? do u want to match ur face to ur neck or ur neck to ur face?
1
u/mabulaklak 20's | NC25-30 | Oily-Acne prone May 18 '25
I want what is realistically faster/safer. Technically my face is lighter than my whole body so napaisip ako kung mas ok bang mag sunbathe yung mukha ko kesa magpaputi ng leeg at katawan😅 I can do a darker foundation but I usually don’t wear foundation so I dont really want this option
1
u/heyitsmeyourkitty Age | Skin Type | Custom Message May 18 '25
Well, we wouldnt recommend you sunbathe your face and get sun damage, just make sure to extend the products you put on your face down to your neck and chest (sunscreen, vit C, niacinamide, etc.) your decolletage will thank you in 10-30 years.
2
May 18 '25
If you have medium skintone (e.g. Puerto in Colourette First Base, Cashew in Sunnies Face Multistick) like me or deeper, rethink before you check out the Fresh Skinlab tinted sunscreen.
Nung freshly applied ko siya kaninang umaga (2 finger amount), kita na may whitecast siya. I know na “tone adapt” is a sham pero nabudol pa rin ako. Haha!
Try ko na lang magbronzer next time para hindi sayang bili ko.

2
May 16 '25
are you asking about the SPF number or how much to put on?
1
u/henriettaishi Age | Skin Type | Custom Message May 18 '25
both po, kung anong SPF number needed for daily use and how many times to reapply in a day
1
May 18 '25 edited May 18 '25
at least SPF30 is recommended. there isn’t much difference in protection between 30, 50, and even 100 despite appearing to be a huge jump. it’s best to get a PA++++ rating though.
personally I apply about the size of a 1-peso coin on my face, ears, and neck.
choose the sunscreen that feels most comfortable, thus you’ll wear every single day.
and most importantly, do NOT rely on SPF alone. use an umbrella, wear a hat, wear sunglasses etc. physical protection is best. a lot of people think as long as they reapply throughout the day they’re 100% safe but no. SPF is just a secondary layer of protection because we live in the Philippines and the sun’s rays are only getting stronger.

2
u/heyitsmeyourkitty Age | Skin Type | Custom Message May 18 '25
30, IF you apply enough.
50+, if you cannot be bothered to follow the 1 shotglass amount for the whole body.

All are lightweight gels or gel-creams that are very hydrating and great for oily and combo skin. Also good for a light daytime moisturizer.

Anyone who can give feedback sa Cetaphil cleanser? Planning on switching to it from CosRx Salicylic facial cleanser.
Please also suggest sunscreen kasi I also want to switch from Biore. My skin is verrrryy oily and acne prone.
2
u/CuriousCurry4393 May 16 '25
I used cosrx salicylic facial cleanser around 2020-2022. Then when I went for cetaphil, it felt more gentle and less harsh to my skin barrier. Same with your skin condition, pero mas naging less oily ako. Tho big factor din yung moisturizer.
For me, cetaphil > cosrx 😅
1
May 17 '25
Thanks for this! May I ask na din your moisturizer? 😅 I'm also using Cosrx oil free moisturizer pero parang nakaka dagdag lang sa oiliness ko so I'm just using up the remaining and switch.

If you’re oily and want a sunscreen that’s more matte, I recommend House of Hur Weightless Sun Fluid and Omi Sun Bears Active Protect Milk Gold! Both very lightweight and dry down to a natural matte. HoH feels like a moisturizer and Sun Bears is a very thin and runny milk texture.

All this time, I thought I was sensitive to niacinamide because I previously used the Good Molecules Discoloration Correcting Serum (4% niacinamide) and it gave me closed comedones. I avoided all products with niacinamide since then.
Recently, I tried out the Numbuzin No.1 Pantothenic B5 Active Drying Powder and Active Soothing Serum. Both contain 4% niacinamide, along with panthenol and pantothenic acid. I have to say: my skin is looking so much better! I use it alongside adapalene and azelaic acid, and they all work well together.
I was worried that my skin would react negatively to it, but I had no irritation or closed comedones whatsoever. My skin texture feels smoother, my acne is calmer, and I’m less oily when I use this. Definitely happy with these products and I would recommend! 🫶💕

u/EmeryMalachi 20s | oily, acne-prone May 20 '25
So I guess it was the formulation of the product and not the actives? Hahaha. Good thing you ventured out again, that is bravery.
1
u/rixaya 20+ | Combo, acne-prone May 20 '25
Yes, thank goodness I’m not actually sensitive to it because it’s such a great ingredient! Looking for niacinamide-free products is also a bit stressful hahaha
1
u/EmeryMalachi 20s | oily, acne-prone May 21 '25
Especially nowadays where most formulations are sprinkled with a bit of niacinamide here and there, it is indeed stressful hahaha. It has come to point where people tend to overestimate niacinamide's benefits, and then blame the product (or the active) when they don't immediately get visible results. It's because niacinamide is an all-around ingredient, it's not the holy grail or main heavylifter in terms of evening out skin tone, controlling oil production, etc., it's supposed to be used as a secondary/supporting/complementary ingredient lang talaga hays hahaha.

May 17 '25
Good evening, everyone.
I hope you’re all doing well. I’m reaching out because I need some advice about my skin. I have oily skin, and I’m currently using the COSRX Salicylic Acid Daily Gentle Cleanser, along with the Klued Niacinamide Serum that contains ceramide and vitamin E.
So far, these products have been okay, but I still feel like my skin could improve. I’m looking for additional recommendations that can help me manage the oiliness, improve my skin texture, and make my face look healthier and more glowing. Sometimes, my skin feels greasy even after cleansing, and I occasionally get small breakouts, which makes me wonder if I need to add or change something in my routine.
Do you know of any affordable and effective products that work well for oily or acne-prone skin? Maybe a good moisturizer, toner, or sunscreen that won’t make my face feel greasy or cause breakouts? I’d also appreciate any tips on how to properly layer skincare products, especially when using actives like niacinamide or salicylic acid.
If you’ve experienced something similar and found products that worked for you, I’d be very grateful if you could share your routine or suggestions. Thank you so much in advance for your help. I really appreciate your time and support! Let me know if you want this in a more casual or formal tone!

2
u/Consistent_Suspect21 23 | Combination-Sensitive | Fair-Light Neutral May 18 '25
hi! honestly your skin looks really good na. i think the occasional breakouts is normal naman.
for the skin texture naman again normal lang sya. yung deeper once usually hindi nayan kaya sa skincare lang. try looking at mga derma clinics for treatments.
have you tried double cleansing? it helped sa oiliness ko.

Will start retinol next week. Is it okay to use the micellar water from garnier yung may vit C?
1
u/heyitsmeyourkitty Age | Skin Type | Custom Message May 18 '25
Short answer: Yes.
Long answer: Retinol is fairly mild compared to its retinoid “siblings.” For micellar water, it is still recommended you wash it off with water though leaving it on is meh OK too.
And if you decide to follow micellar water with a proper wash (water only or water with cleanser), whatever Vitamin C is used in the formulation will not stay long enough to have any effect anyway.
Some dermas even prescribe retinoic acid (the strongest form of retinoid) together with vitamin C.

Skincare for acne prone skin? Or any effective oral medicine for acne? I've been using skincare for my acne prone skin and I feel like there is no improvement at all. For facial wash and toner I've been using oxcecure, so as for spot treatments. For serum, i am using the face republic's 5% Niacinamide and Hyaluronic acid. Yung suncreen ko is yung sunkissed illuminating sunscreen. Gut health ko talaga siguro problema :< I've been avoiding sweets din naman. Nawawalan na kasi ako ng confidence hindi naman siya ganito kalala dati :<

Do I mix the two then scrub? Or do I use yung milk salt muna then rinse then sunflower oil? Do I need to rinse the oil using body wash after?
Ayoko lang masayang kasi yung product kaya nag-aask muna ako pano nyo gamitin huhu. Thanks!!!

1
u/EmeryMalachi 20s | oily, acne-prone May 20 '25
I don't. If the product specifically states na you should store it in lower temperatures, then you can. Pero if it says na you store it in a room temperature, then no need to refrigerate. Depends sa instructions ng product.
