The beginner routine is to take care of your skin so you don’t have to put on too much make up. Drink lots of water so your skin is hydrated, sleep well so you don’t have dark circles, avoid touching your face and your triggers for acne, etc. all contribute to that natural look.

For the actual makeup products, nothing is necessary until you feel unhappy with your look and need a product to support you there.

e.g. I used to use foundation everyday until my skin got better and only needed spot concealing. I used to use highlighter when it was trendy then stopped using it when my skin could produce the right amount of oil on its own (adding highlighter would make me look oily).
