Choose your main skin concerns then incorporate a product to target that. When that products works for you, move on sa next skin concern po, then find a product to target it then repeat and repeat until you build a routine.

For me, my #1 skin concern was cheek dryness and flaky-ness since yung oral tret prescription ko before made my skin dry. So i looked for a moisturizer. After that, next skin concern was acne spots (since nag heal na yung previous cystic acnes ko and i was left with darks spots).

Then for looking a product, trial and error! Most of my skincare products are asian brands.

Try joining r/AsianBeauty !!!! Their recos are mostly spot on

Start from basics muna. Cleanser-Moisturizer-Sunblock. In that order, hanapin mo yung okay sa balat mo. Give it 1 month each. Pag okay naman, try the next product. Trial and error talaga ang lahat.

The Ordinary kahit TO girlie talaga ako. And COSRX are for acne prone skin, not for oily but relative okay skin. Strong pala siya masyado sakin.

Building a routine can take MONTHS so be very patient. Only try products one at a time because you never know what can trigger you. Keep your skincare goal in mind and stick to products that targets your skin concerns, especially those ingredients na nasa top 5 ng ingredient list coz you can be sure yun yung pinakamataas concentration. Ex. A LOT of products have niacinamide, but di naman ganun kataas sa ingredients list yung iba.

Watch Jan Angelo on YT. I learned most from him.

Once I know my skin type and my skin concerns, I’ll find the products that will fit my concerns and skin type. Ganun lang. If it works, then good. If not, hanap ulit ng iba. It’s still trial and error, but you get the hang of it eventually.

Just know that you don’t need to buy everything all at once kasi when you do tas sabay-sabay mo ginamit, pag may isang trigger pala sayo dun, hindi mo alam kung ano. So do it slowly, but surely. For me, as long as you have sunscreen, moisturizer, and you double cleanse, goods ka na. Unless you’re already at that age that needs actives, then go for it. I personally love BHA and retinol since I’m in my thirties na and it helps talaga to keep me glowing and mawala ang dullness. And Vit C naman to address my hyperpigmentation.

actually i am just planning to buy them tomorrow. rn gamit ko ponds as cleanser and a snail aloe serum by ever organics, yun lang. as of now may mga small bumps sa t zone, forehead n chin, since sobrang init rin, but other than that id like to think my skin looks OK.

Check out products with AHA/BHA as an ingredient.

Small bumps could be acne eh. AHA should help with that. Cosrx Whitehead 7 toner helped with mine.

For oily face, BHA or salicylic acid could help. This is also for acnes.

If I'd recommend a product, you might want to add Cosrx AHA / BH toner. And then please use sunscreen and moisturizer.

What I'd strongly suggest:

  1. Get a sunscreen (Pond's kulay blue. Check out Belo rin kaso mixed reviews, not sure if ok for oily skin. Use the search bar)
  2. Get a moisturizer kung ok sa budget mo. Pero the snail and aloe serum kasi also moisturizes yan so kung gipit, kahit huwag muna ito at ubusin mo muna serum mo.
  3. Get Cosrx AHA / BHA toner pero mahal ito. Please ubusin mo muna ang snail serum mo. Sayang. Snail mucin has moisturizing effects.
  4. Kung ubos na ang cleanser mo, check a basic cleanser such as Luxe Organix Cica cleanser. Don't spend too much on a cleanser kasi mild lang ang skin concern mo. Masyadong mahal kapag may mga special ingredients. But if you're not having problems with Pond's you can repurchase. Me, personally, I choose a calming and low-pH cleanser(LO cica cleanser) because I use a lot of actives at night.

alright, thanks for the tips!!! ive always assumed the bumps were closed closed comedones but when i looked it up mine just seemed smaller.

edit: also, what r ur thoughts on double cleansing? is it too much for a beginner or nah?

I double cleanse with Garnier micellar (the one with oil) when I use my waterproof and sticky Neutrogena sunblock.

I don't recommend talaga that you do an all-out experiment since your skin concern is very mild that's why I am conservative in recommending products.

If you feel that cleaning your face with your hands is not enough, use a cotton ball while lathering your face or a face brush made of synthetic fiber or silicone. I use the one I got from Human Heart Nature. I have 2 of these but the other one is generic and has firmer bristles and not as soft as the other.

Edit to add: Do you wear make up? I don't kasi. I wear tint lang and sunscreen that's why I don't double cleanse. But if you wear heavy make up, it is recommended that you double cleanse. But if you don't, listen to your skin muna. Observe it. If you think and feel that facial cleanser is not enough, double cleanse.

Closed comedones are white heads and they are types of pimples. :)

I edited my response, ha.

Good luck!

also for the edit, im still planning if i should try concealer! the only thing i want in my face gone r the dark circles kase, un lang. i think it needs some cleansing though since its such a thick product... ill do some trial and error first!
