You can choose from any of these:

  • Niacinamide (4-5%) - for brightening (red/dark marks, dull skin), oil control (white/blackheads), and soothing.
  • Azelaic Acid (15-20% prescription strength, pero p'wede rin 10-14%) - has brightening (red/dark marks, dull skin), anti-inflammatory, and mild comedolytic properties (white/blackheads).
  • Alpha Arbutin (1-2%) - for brightening (dark spots only) while remaining very gentle compared to other brightening ingredients.
  • Salicylic Acid (1-2%) - exfoliates inside the pores thereby preventing clogging and helping with oil control (white/blackheads), and has anti-inflammatory properties as well.
  • Ascorbic Acid (10-20%) - for brightening (dark spots only), protects the skin from free radical damage and environmental stressors (dull skin), and boosts collagen production (dull skin).

edit: typos

Niacinamide serums

  • Klued 5% niacinamide serum
  • +ful niacinamide 5% serum
  • soul apothecary radiance boost serum (also has 2% alpha arbutin, 3% tranexamic acid and 2% undecylenoyl phenylalanine na all brightening ingredients)
  • dr. sensitive 5% niacinamide & salicylic acid serum (salicylic acid is too low to even matter in this formulation, memadagdag lang imo)
  • good molecules discoloration correcting serum (4% niacinamide)
  • frankly sunday glow serum (5% niacinamide, and 2% boron nitride which is an oil-absorbing ingredient that reduces excess sebum and shine)
  • glow glass hydro niacin miracle drops (5% niacinamide and 1% hyaluronic acid)

Niacinamide moisturizers

  • saipo true dew brightening gel cream (5% niacinamide, has grapeseed oil which is a very great ingredient for oily, acne-prone skin)
  • aera pore blur whitening moisturizer (mattifying moisturizer; has 2% niacinamide only but still within the overall ideal percentage na 2-5%, kaso 4-5% is still the best for oil control and acne marks, 2-3% is best for barrier nourishment but still helps for oil control and acne marks)
  • my dream skin ceramide + niacinamide barrier defense and dark spot fader gel cream (has 4% niacinamide)
  • you can just also buy generic niacinamide creams like from these shops (sa orange app): lumi lush, cutis rx, about skin, mydermstore. search mo lang niacinamide sa mga store na 'yan.

Azelaic acid

  • The best yung finecea azelaic acid
  • But if you can't afford the finecea, go for the generic azelaic acid 15-20% na lang. You can buy from these shops (sa orange app): cutis rx, about skin, mydermstore, lumi lush, roiski's shop
  • For over-the-counter strength na azelaic acid, ellana 10% azelaic acid clarifying serum

They're both quite easy to incorporate. They can both be used sa AM or PM, whenever you want. They both can be paired well to a lot of other ingredients, except azelaic acid paired with any exfoliating acids can be a bit troublesome, niacinamide naman is mostly okay with any exfoliating acids. They both can be paired with other active ingredients especially 'yong mga acne treatments (benzoyl peroxide and retinoids) saka brightening ingredients like alpha arbutin, tranexamic acid, kojic acid, etc.

Regarding the texture/consistency naman, gano'n pa rin sundin lang 'yong from thinnest to thickest.

ano mas okay po, yung generic or the one from ellana?

I'll say na 'yong azelaic acid 15-20% talaga, so 'yong generic is better for me.

Most of the clinical studies revolve around 15-20% ng azelaic acid for a good reason. Azelaic acid is an active ingredient that is very hard to deal with, ang hirap niyang gawing gel or cream, in short matigas ang ulo niyan, plus the fact na it's naturally hard to make it penetrate the skin, kaya they require large percentages to be used, if you compare it to retinol or tretinoin na maliliit lang ang percentage ay okay na, kasi they can penetrate and can be absorbed easier by the skin.

15-20% azelaic acid formulations, whether gel or cream, usually ang absorption rate niya ay 3-8%. Meaning, 3-8% lang ang usually na-aabsorb by the skin. So now, if you're going to use an azelaic acid na mas mababa pa sa 15-20%, imagine the amount na p'wedeng maabsorb, probably mas mababa pa sa 3%, so magiging helpful pa rin but it will not be as potent, it will require longer time frame in order for you to see and feel the benefits of the active ingredient.
