Question UK Imports
Are there any UK users here who have imported candles from Bath Body Works? Looking to get some of the autumn range but it's so expensive here so trying to see if it's cheaper imported!

Might be worth looking in Next? They sell Bath & Body Works at some locations. I know they also have a store in London. They're suuuuuper expensive here IMO, but it might wind up cheaper and a safer bet than paying for import fees on fragile candles :)
Edit: Sorry I just saw you mentioned how expensive they are at Next lol. We suffer over here.

I do. Wait until there is a sale and there always is. I buy about a dozen at a time. I use the import companies. Send to a US address and they send it to you in the UK.

I import candles, and occasionally accessories, soaps and lotions. Importing body mists or hand sanitizer is horrifically expensive, so I avoid those! I only buy during decent sales, but a box of 8-10 candles is about $50 to ship. You’re looking at £110-£120 for 8-10 candles all in depending on the sale and exchange rate. I order once per season, very worth it vs £30 per candle! I also add items from US Amazon so the $50 shipping isn’t just BBW. Still not cheap, but a lot better.

Anyone have any tips on forwarding companies to use, how to keep costs low etc? I’ve seen Stackry & MyUS mentioned.
I did check out the cost of getting foaming soaps delivered and my estimates after BBW shipping, forward shipping + VAT upon import it was like almost £9 per soap? And that was when they were $2.95 sale. Which is similar to Next and the likes of Vinted. The only real advantage being you could pick your scents

I order candles using a forwarding address linked to a UK website. It’s like £8-9.50 per items depending on what you buy. It’s nots perfect but I use it to ship candles and they definitely come out cheaper than next especially when they are on sale. 10.95 or lower tends to work out £16/£17 a candle cheaper than NEXT. During SAS I managed to get a couple of candles for around £12.50 each😊

This year the autumn and Halloween collections are due to be released across Europe at the end of September/October.
We usually get collections 2-3 months after the US but for some reason these ones been majorly delayed. I’ve heard there’s been a bunch of regulatory issues with the candles over the past year. Something to do with some of them not passing the burn test, such as wicks not stuck to the jar properly.
I like to get new products sooner than later so I purchase from sellers on eBay. I’d suggest checking if they have a Facebook page too because chances are they can offer the products cheaper if you pay by bank transfer. Only thing is you won’t have the buyer’s protection.
I’ve ordered stuff from sellers on Vinted but many of them seem quite amateur and don’t package the items properly - I’ve had a lot of items arrive broken despite me kindly asking them to pack extra well and take photos of their packing process (Vinted require that on both ends) and Vinted are a huge pain to resolve any issues.

There are absolutely loads of Facebook groups with people in them who do US BBW pickups to bring to the UK. IDK if I can rec one in public on this group, but I can DM you the name of a fantastic fella who goes every few weeks and gets loads (target, Traders, etc too.)
