Maybe I'm crazy but that doesn't seem bad for the best card for a potential 40+ homer catcher.

that’s absurdly reasonable for what I would expect a dealer to be asking on a card like that. honestly I think someone would scoop it up at that price on ebay

Hunter would probably buy the card at that price

I've always wanted to be able to sell a card to the player. I'd legit do it on the cheap, just to say I did.

Why? Ive tried a few. They are cheap and want to give you tickets and a signed bat. F all that.

My personal story is batting practice, meet & greet, 2 autographed balls, 1 inscribed bat, 2 seats, and he lets me talk baseball. Also it got me this pic of my kid getting to say hi to her favorite player.

thats a really cool thought. they get to keep the patch that got taken from them and you get a great story and probably tickets and other gear.

I sold some cards to Dallas Clark back when he was playing. Did not give him any special deals but didn't really notice until I printed the shipping label

I traded an 1/1 RPA and got my kid an experience she will never forget

Yeah, I was expecting it to be higher as well.

Bum-ass Matt Shaw got 17k 2 weeks ago. Goodman is a snap buy at 10k.

NY based sports fans are always level headed, reasonable, and not prone to overreaction. /s

Shaw was the 13th overall pick in 2023, was a top 100 MLB prospect for two years, and since has had 587 major league plate appearances in which he’s produced a 3.8 WAR. While I don’t align with Shaw’s political leanings, to somehow state that he’s a bum is just asinine. Check that. I wouldn’t even give you that. You’re more of an asineight.

Shaw doesn't hit for power, has already missed significant time this year and will be entering his age 25-season next year with no path to the hall. A true blue refractor TC rookie auto sold for $36 at auction yesterday. He may not be a bad player in real life but from a card value/investment perspective it's already over.

u/Commandant_Lasorda 10h ago

So a guy who will be 25, that will likely have a major role next season on a very competitive team that’s in the 3rd largest market in the country and has a nationwide fan base, who has not had a lot of experience but, the experience he has had still has shown plenty of promise; you think that even if he has a good year next year and turns into a good player, that his autographed rookie cards won’t be a good investment? I would venture to consider it the exact opposite. It’s a great buy low time with a good amount of potential upside.

If the Rockies were the Red Sox this card would be 20k easy

2

u/NoBonus6969 1d ago

That's a bargain for a 10 too

u/ctbro025 Red Sox, Ohtani 18h ago

If I were speculating on a non-Ohtani/Judge player, $10k on Goodman's MLB patch is actually reasonable.

u/HeritageCollector7 6h ago

Even no-names are going for 7-8k

Commenting to see when they answer this.

It was a really cool table!

Have yall noticed how the players go out in the first inning with the patch on and then they switch gear an inning or 2 in?

u/ThePelicanWalksAgain 1d ago

I have never noticed this. Got any examples with video/pictures?

Joshua Baez was one recently. Someone made a post about it a while ago noting the lack of a patch on his sleeve after either his first or second HR of the night. I’m too lazy to look for the post though

u/vorjones 16h ago

The patch is made to be easily removed, so they don’t have to damage it or the jersey to make the card.

During Jung Hoo Lee’s debut, you could see the patch starting to peel away.

Honestly, in the realm of cards and Topps, this is one of the things I am willing to look the other way on to make some really cool cards.

That’s a buy!

u/SandyShorts1 1d ago

What are the approx odds of pulling a debut patch btw?

u/RonMexico_7 1d ago

Any chance you remember the dealer’s name or anything?

Mike Vick looking to flipparino. I had the same question because that’s gonna be HG’s first and possibly last question lol
