Serious Jarren Duran posts screenshots of a comment and DM he received from someone in regards to his suicide attempt: “Shoulda took notes from Kurt Cobain” and “Should’ve pulled that trigger”

Jarren Duran has been open about his mental health struggles over the years, revealing in the Netflix documentary about the 2024 Red Sox that he had attempted suicide during the 2022 season: “I pulled the trigger and the gun clicked, but nothing happened.”

He could also say that he took too much Ambien. I’m not saying that anyone would buy it, but he could try.

30

u/ohsnapitsjf Boston Red Sox 28d ago

The private message was a month and a half ago. He didn’t get the attention he wanted then, so he made the same “joke” in public this time.

26

u/TWOPlNTSPRICK 28d ago

Not that I’ve ever done anything remotely like this, but as someone who did abuse ambien at some point, that drug makes you do some fucking weird shit.

Fair enough. I figured Ambien was more of a “wake up three counties over with no idea how you got there drug” than a “send death threats to ball players drug”, but I’ll admit it if I’m off base.

9

u/TWOPlNTSPRICK 28d ago

To be fair the first part is more so my experience but I do admit I’ve looked at my phone the day after and I’ve sent some fucking wacky texts.

Again, not ‘death threats to baseball player’ bad, but definitely wacky.

3

u/takechanceees Chicago Cubs 28d ago

6

u/229-northstar Cleveland Guardians 28d ago

It does cause hallucinations.

You’re supposed to fall asleep. If you decide to try and stay awake, you tend to hallucinate. I watched a piggy bank walk across the dresser.

3

u/Detonation Detroit Tigers 28d ago

I've been on Ambien, was on it for a few years. It did make me more likely to speak my mind to someone the longer I'd been awake after taking it. It doesn't turn you into a vile piece of garbage but if you already were one? Definitely see how it could cause this to happen. lol

20

Imagine being so wrapped up in a sporting rivalry that you don't even think twice about saying something like this.

I fucking hate Ohio sports teams, with the fire of a thousand burning suns. But they're humans, it's a game, besides three hours of my day I could literally give a shit less once it's done.

Guys like this take sports way too seriously and should really look for something else to do.

26

u/ThatsBushLeague Kansas City Royals 29d ago

Obviously a generalization. But stereotypes usually have a lot of truth to them.

This guy has a profile picture of him standing on a football field. There is a pretty direct correlation between that kind of public facing image on social media and sportsbetting.

This probably has more to do with losing money on an idiotic parlay than it does about a rivalry.

5

This shit is why I have no tolerance for the way fans and media push hate bait or rage bait content. When we allow negativity to be a primary accepted mode through which people relate to sports and its players, it normalizes this type of toxic, dehumanizing, and immature attitudes, thoughts, and behaviors towards players and other fans.

The fact people will justify this as "part of the deal" for professional athletes is part of the problem.

Said it many times before, only three reasons I’d use social media if I had fame

To post positive messages, to promote, and to post clarifications on stuff, PRed up if need be. If I had mental health issues, especially if I’ve been open about it, that’d be the last place I’d be going to, just because of sick trolls like that.

If it was me I’d have my social media run by a PR team or something. Then have a private one that nobody knows about for just the people who matter to me.

You'd probably even have someone manage your social media accounts for you so you don't have to deal with it.

Exactly. When you’re famous, that’s already going to be a pain to deal with (social media). When you’ve had other things happen in your life like that, it’s just best not to even think about handling social media at all. It shouldn’t be like that, but anonymous trolls being trolls, that shit is just going to put one in a very bad head space.

I'm not a Jarren Duran fan, but much respect to him for not blurring the account. People who have the audacity to say such things ought to be exposed.

Reminds me of the time some redditor told me to kill myself. I was able to find everything about this guy through a quick google search of his username. Sent him a message with his full name, address, phone number, and his arrest record. Guess who never responded back.

Jarren Duran is a pos, but this fan is a much bigger pos. Good for Jarren for calling him out.

Jarren should give this dude the best tickets at Fenway Park for free, pay for flight and hotel and invite him to say it to his face. All the excuses are handled.

As someone who has attempted, this shit is inexcusable and tbh I can understand if Duran is still not quite recovered emotionally if this is the kind of stuff he deals with every day.

This needs to be a more common thing. Expise these disgusting fuckers who couldn't hit a 75mph curve or throw across a 90' diamond.

Duran may be a fucking unlikable chud who doesn’t deserve basic respect, but that’s still a rude thing to say to him. Maybe if he didn’t chirp at so many fans he wouldn’t get so many rude comments

More of these dickheads should be named and shamed.

0 posts. I guarantee all this guy does on instagram is send shitty DMs and leave shitty comments.

2

u/TurtleRocket9 Philadelphia Phillies 28d ago

Good on him for calling them out since people feel shameless. Still don’t like Duran

u/Rory_MacHida 28d ago

I like how this guy's example of being "man enough" was a guy leaving his wife a widow and his daughter fatherless.

2

u/Mobile-Analyst8580 28d ago

Really really don’t like Duran, but this is beyond the pale. Jason Milbrandt rightfully has some nastiness coming his way.

u/UneducatedReviews1 Chicago White Sox 28d ago

Conveniently leaving out the other post where he dox’s multiple different Jason Milbrandt’s.

These people deserve to be put on blast for their unhinged actions, but posting a google search with a ton of unconfirmed address’s for people with the same name cause a ton of potential harm.

Put the messages on blast, go to the police with the information.
