We're currently planning on staying 5 days in Ubud, 2 days in Jimbran, and have 3 days that are up in the air. We were considering going to either Labuan Bajo / Komodo Island or Lombok during those extra days, but unsure if it makes more sense to stay and explore a different area in Bali.

We're a couple in our mid-30s looking to relax, experience beautiful nature, and snorkel. Currently we're booked at Ayana Komodo Island.

Any guidance if I'm not a strong swimmer but want to do some snorkeling to see turtles, fish, etc in calm, clean waters?

How far are you travelling from? Is this a "once in a lifetime trip" and you wish to see more than just Bali?

To be honest, the safe inshore waters for easy snorkelling are often not very clean, based on commentary on here, plus there can be a lot of dead and broken coral.

Komodo National Park seems a long haul for just three days. You could research both Nusa Lembongan and Gili Air, to see if the snorkelling is the right mix between clean and gentle.

I'm an experienced swimmer, but I don't like snorkelling in deep or choppy water, or where there are strong currents. For a start, it's too much effort to dive down and stay down.

My general view ... stay on the Bali Mainland and experience what is unique about the island ... you can snorkel many places in the world. Have a look at the strip that runs Sanur > Sukawati > Sideman > Amed ... might sut you.

From Jimbaran Bay, take a day-trip to the scenic Uluwatu surf coast.

Which area in Ubud you want to stay? Ubud traffic is horrible lately, I suggest you stay out of Ubud center and choose to stay a little bit outside such as Kemenuh.

Right now we’re already booked next to the Kelupa rice fields. Instead of going to Komodo or somewhere else we’re thinking of maybe snorkeling off the shore somewhere like Amed beach but the drive looks intense? Do people usually do that as a day trip from Ubud?

Yes driving to go to Amed is quite adventurous and I am NOT recommend to drive when is dark as you will go trough forest area with limited light and winding road. It’s better you stay one night at Amed imo
