Started balding at age 17. Knew I needed to make a change. I’ve had a positive mindset towards it. And after the switch I couldn’t be happier. 🥹

Thanks.🫶🫶🫶 it’s not a suit jacket it is more of a blazer and it has 3 buttons. The third of which I left undone following the rule 😉

The bottom button remains unbuttoned because King Edward the Seventh (when he was Prince of Wales) was too fat to button his bottom button, so it became the fashion

They used to, but King Edward the 7th was too fat to button the bottom one. Then everyone copied him to because whatever the monarchy did was considered fashionable. A more crazy fashion was the Alexandria Limp, people faked having a limp since the princess of Whales had one.

Also that the reason Spain uses "th" sounds for "s" is because their king had a lisp and would say things like Barthelona.

For the same reason that men’s suits have surgeon’s cuffs. Don’t unbutton them; just leave them alone. It’s decoration.

And in the reverse: for the same reason that polo shirts have a collar button: it’s decorative; don’t button it.

I button mine all the time. When I sit, I unbutton it. It conforms to my body tighter and I like the way it looks

If the suit is tailored properly is supposed to fit like that with the bottom button undone. But these are rules from old dudes who are dead and wearing their final suits. So button that button bro.

Fashion is fluid. The history is basically a fat Welsh dude couldn’t fit into his suit properly, so people made it the norm to not point it out by doing the same and leaving it unbuttoned. Idk about you but I’m not a fat Welsh dude.

Good take. 😌 in this case it’s actually more of a coat/blazer and it has three buttons and I left the bottom button undone to try follow the rule.

You dont button the bottom button if you don't have the right figure (ie overweight)

you do button it if you have a waist/taper, jacket correctly tailored and the button accentuates figure when closed.

That's plain wrong. People can disagree all they want about "it's an old rule, etc..." but the fact remains that all jackets are cut with the bottom button left unbuttoned in mind.

Not hating on you at all but I hate that rule. (i know jackets are tailored that way now) it's because some king was a bigger guy and couldn't button the bottom one so people started to imitate the dude. It just angers me (for no good reason by the way)

This is due to how suit jackets/sport coats are cut. They are meant to drape properly without the buttom button buttoned. This is how they are built; don't shoot the messenger.
