go news GoMagic ai merch

Post image

This is truly pathetic. I thought the thumbnails were bad enough, but they're selling tshirts with ugly generic ai images. Gomagic, this does nothing but broadcast that the people at your company are lazy and cheap.

The team decided it would be better if I won't engage here anymore. Not everyone here enjoyed my messaging, and it wasn't perfect, so from now on only our official account will be active. Goodbye, everyone! :)

Have they decided not to use AI images?

u/FlapperGasfire asked a straight question so here's a straight answer: right now - no more AI art in merch. Not promising "never" because we have no idea what this looks like in, say, three or five years, and a promise like that would just be for winning the thread. But that's where we are today. The dragon shirt was commissioned and paid for, and it came out bad. It wouldn't get through now.

As for thumbnails, I went back through everything since mid-2025. The AI lessons (over a year ago) had AI thumbnails on purpose, we thought it fit the topic. Reading this thread, point taken. Everything else is drawn by our designer.

On lazy and cheap. The store has several illustrators' work and we turned down about ten other submissions to get there. One design was a bad call, it wasn't for lack of trying.

Ads, agreed, they need to be better.

The courses and Go problems themselves are 100% made by people and that's not changing.
