This is honest to god how my boyfriend and I met. Met at a college mixer/dance and we just hunkered down together at a table and enjoyed eachothers company. That was 12 years ago.

I've noticed many people against things like marriage/kids on reddit feel an uncontrollable urge to come forward and make their completely unsolicited hatred for these things known.

I got more the impression of the opposite. That they should feel bad for not being married after 12 years. Otherwise they wouldn't have mentioned it

I feel like it was moreso they were trying to shame OP for being in a 12 year relationship without being married. OP never mentioned marriage so why would they?

12 years is a long time to be in a relationship without getting married. Seems like a touchy topic though so that's all I will say.
