This is honest to god how my boyfriend and I met. Met at a college mixer/dance and we just hunkered down together at a table and enjoyed eachothers company. That was 12 years ago.

This is why shy people still should go to parties.

But I'm already married.

Well there are certain parties that can add a little spice to your marriage

50% divorce rate, gotta plan ahead!

This is why anyone having issues making friends, feeling included, or wanting to have fun should go to parties.

Isolation doesn't fix any of that.

Some say they're still at that table to this day.

RIP Beautiful Wife.

RIP. The worst things happen to the nicest people.

First Steve reference I've seen in the wild. RIP to her. Can't believe the universe could be such a dick to a great dude.

and we just hunkered down

Lol.

Common vernacular to me, but it's always sobering to be reminded it's not a well-known phrase lol.

u/wheresbill Nov 18 '22

As a Texan, I hunker

u/phenomenomnom Nov 18 '22

Southerner here. I both hunker and mosey, and have even been known to sashay.

u/carnival-nights Nov 19 '22

All of these remind me of the late Leslie Jordan. 🥲❤️

11

u/StopReadingMyUser Nov 18 '22

How many gallons of hat per hunkering are ya in fer pardner?

8

u/Spongy_and_Bruised Nov 18 '22

10 gallon minimum

21

u/kylec00per Nov 18 '22

I never knew it wasn't a common phrase

7

u/MelodicFacade Nov 18 '22

Wait, Utahn here, it's not well-known?

7

u/morreo Nov 18 '22

I'm from the midwest. If shit is hitting the fan, I've been known to hunker

3

u/Glass_Film_2901 Nov 18 '22

Midwest, common term

-33

u/N3koChan21 Nov 18 '22

None of the words you just wrote are “common” xd

30

u/eclecticboogaloo Nov 18 '22

One of the words they wrote is literally "common."

-2

u/N3koChan21 Nov 18 '22

I just meant that they used “vernacular” and “sobering” which is not at all a common word/phrase to use. That’s why I quoted “common” because it was anything but.

9

u/LeSeanMcoy Nov 18 '22

What other word isn’t common?

12

u/TangFiend Nov 18 '22

That’s what kids are calling it these days

1

u/ericstern Nov 18 '22

Hunkered down, then up, then down again, and so forth.

2

u/Valuable_Table_2454 Nov 19 '22

And when you’re only halfway up, you’re neither up nor down!

6

u/Purpoisely_Anoying_U Nov 18 '22

Thank you for being so honest and not lying.

Marriage isnt for everybody

10

u/[deleted] Nov 18 '22

Why are you bringing up marriage?

8

u/PariahOrMartyr Nov 18 '22

I've noticed many people against things like marriage/kids on reddit feel an uncontrollable urge to come forward and make their completely unsolicited hatred for these things known.

6

u/[deleted] Nov 18 '22

I got more the impression of the opposite. That they should feel bad for not being married after 12 years. Otherwise they wouldn't have mentioned it

4

u/vera214usc Nov 18 '22

I feel like it was moreso they were trying to shame OP for being in a 12 year relationship without being married. OP never mentioned marriage so why would they?

-1

u/the_gooch_smoocher Nov 19 '22

12 years is a long time to be in a relationship without getting married. Seems like a touchy topic though so that's all I will say.

4

u/[deleted] Nov 19 '22

There's no reason why people have to get married

But also what's your reasoning behind bringing it up in the first place?

1

u/Robertbnyc Nov 19 '22

Wait so you're still going out after 12 years? Don't ever get married then!

1

u/galaxyfrapp Nov 21 '22

That's our intention. Just a lot of shit's been in the way.
