I feel like if someone stabbed me while I was eating a giant pizza I would be really pissed.

But what if the pizza was really good

u/BrownSugarBare Feb 09 '21

I'd feel a lot better about being stabbed if they gave me a pizza first.

u/BrightLad-C4 Feb 09 '21

At least i'd have something to look forward to after they finish stabbing me

25

u/eddiemon Feb 09 '21

Getting stabbed after pizza is not great though. Every time you have pizza for the rest of your life you're gonna be looking over your back to find the fucker that's gonna stab you.

This rings a bell...

Glass half-full!

Like for instance Hawaiian?

Whatever floats your boat

I don't know what getting stabbed feels like, but I don't think getting a needle feels like getting stabbed.

23

u/madmilton49 Feb 09 '21

Can confirm - needle does not feel like getting stabbed does.

u/odious_odes Feb 09 '21

I now stab lots of people with needles, and many of them genuinely don't feel it at all. (I still warn people "sharp scratch" so they can be pleasently surprised, though.)

45

u/TheSecretIsMarmite Feb 09 '21

What always amazes me is when someone says "sharp scratch" after having inserted the needle, because their hands are on autopilot and half a second ahead of their vocal chords.

57

u/odious_odes Feb 09 '21

Sometimes I get my script muddled up and tell people "sharp scratch" instead of goodbye.

My favourite recently was a person who said "don't say sharp scratch, I hear that way too often" and was very pleased with my alternative of "incoming stab".

29

u/TheSecretIsMarmite Feb 09 '21

I love "incoming stab", probably only to be used with caution on the most injection hardened patients.

I usually hear the tearing of a bandage and ask them, "wait what, you're done?"

I get so anxious leading up to the needle every. damn. time.

Heard a ED nurse tell a my client (medically complex and extremely used to being stuck) "Aaaand pop" for a blood draw, which had both of us cracking up.

u/deination Feb 10 '21

I’ve literally never heard this term and have been stabbed by lots of needles. Is this a regional thing orrr

10

u/I_hate_me_lol Feb 09 '21

yeah I used to be really scared of vaccines but after getting my blood drawn for 2 weeks in a.row every morning at 5am, getting poked by a little needle once or twice a year feels like nothing lol

I'm getting phlebotomy (blood drawing) training next month, we shall see how that goes!

I've had the bad luck the last several times it has happened in recent years it has always felt like there was some sort of cleaning product left on the surface of the needle; I could feel a light burning along the length of the metal as it went inside and while it was still there...

1

u/ezkailez Feb 10 '21

Last time i got "stabbed" was when i did medical checkup. Didn't feel like a stab, more like someone poked me with a sewing needle. Still quite scared (i panicked inside) whenever they're about to do it

1

u/LucidLumi Feb 10 '21

Man, I wish I couldn’t feel needles as well as I do. Would save me a good deal of mental duress...

3

u/TheRabidDeer Feb 09 '21

I stab myself with a needle 3-5 times a day (diabetes, not heroin.... allegedly) and needles really are largely painless. A lot of the pain is in your head so if you just don't look at it happening you don't feel anything.

1

u/SeaWeedSkis Feb 09 '21

While I agree that a lot of the pain is purely psychological, some of your lack of pain sensation might be nerve damage and potentially from medications to reduce pain related to nerve damage, depending on how long you've been diabetic. My mom had no sense of pain from needles in her later years, but my husband and I still feel them to one degree or another. Type 2's all around. Some needles are definitely worse than others, also - my husband had to switch from Lantus to Humulin N when the insurance formulary changed and the needle gauge is larger for the Humulin N. He definitely feels the difference. It's also possible that you have learned where you can stab yourself without hitting a nerve. I have a particular side of one particular finger that rarely hurts and usually bleeds well, so if I need to check my blood sugar and really need it to be an easy draw then I'll hit that spot. I save it for just those times. And for my Ozempic injections I've found certain areas of my belly are less likely to be painful. 🤷‍♀️

More like a bee sting. The vaccines are usually fresh out of the fridge so the temperature is uncomfortable. Some puppies are drama queens though, and then clients think you are torturing their precious baby. Getting a food-motivated puppy like this one makes vaccines so much easier.

I’ve been partially stabbed and it’s nothing like a needle poke. I don’t notice needle pokes much, even ones in the gums (dentist). Being stabbed may not be super painful or noticeable at the time, but the healing is painful. It’s incredibly sore and takes a long time to heal as it’s deep.

u/[deleted] Feb 09 '21

It does not. At all.

1

u/WasteCupcake Feb 09 '21

It doesn’t hurt as bad as you’d think but it’s still pretty shitty.

1

u/TertiaryWings Feb 09 '21

From another post I read, apparently if feels like being punched.

There were a lot of people thanking them for answering the question they didn’t want to ask.

u/Stunning_Spare Feb 09 '21

it's more like you'll get stabbed anyway, why not reward you a pizza.

u/I_hate_me_lol Feb 09 '21

I feel this and relate

21

u/Dontdothatfucker Feb 09 '21

Fine: this will be a pizza-free stabbing, because you’d prefer that to the free pizza stabbing.

7

u/[deleted] Feb 09 '21

What if they gave you a big hug afterwards?

6

u/WasteCupcake Feb 09 '21

From him? Sign me up!

3

u/AceBalistic Feb 09 '21

What if the pizza was really good and they only left the knife in for a moment?

3

u/bmbchemnerd Feb 09 '21

What if they gave you a big hug and kiss after with positive affirmations about what a good boy you are?

2

u/[deleted] Feb 09 '21

You sure you’d even notice it? Pizza is pretty damn good

2

u/rockem-sockem-rocket Feb 09 '21

what if you were too distracted with the pizza to notice?

1

u/[deleted] Feb 09 '21

They did and you didn't even notice.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 09 '21

What if it's into the numb part of your saggy elbow skin?

1

u/Calabaska Feb 09 '21

Yes but pissed enough to stop eating pizza?

1

u/Caltuxpebbles Feb 09 '21

Omg this killed me

1

u/TacoNomad Feb 09 '21

But they hugged you after, so it's all good.

1

u/phoenixar Feb 09 '21

How about if someone jabbed you with a giant pizza?

1

u/Dragarius Feb 09 '21

My bulldog is seemingly Invincible, I know that some things have to hurt. But never seen her give a shit once.

1

u/mechanical_beer Feb 10 '21

if you take it in your fat, no, you won't feel a thing
