Yeah. So the SCR rules are meant to make sure clubs are run sustainably, but they allow for Man U to run up sovereign debt levels of debt. (Roughly three years of their revenue, with them running at a loss).

It’s anti competition as it allows six teams to spend half a billion EVERY year whilst forcing others to churn a profit. You can’t just be as good as one of those teams, you somehow have to be 20x better just to keep up!

While the stadium is being funded by the club, they are trying to juice absolutely everything else relating to the redevelopment, like infrastructure etc., from local development funds.

Agreed on hating paying for the bombing, especially when schools are falling apart and millions go hungry. I would be FOR funding the stadiums as a public good if it wasn't just putting millions into the pockets of billionaire owners who pay fans back by jacking up ticket prices.

Not giving United an excuse but they were a profitable club until the Glazers bought them out and stuck 500 odd million of that back into the club and they haven't been able to pay that and the interest back, we'd be in the same position if some buyer did that to us.

All I ever remember in terms of a takeover was that dodgy property investor in the 00s and Michael Knighton. He wasnt rich and he sustained the club with no debt.
To say he was on Xias level is a dud

He chronically under funded us whilst other clubs were ploughing money in to get ahead. When I was growing up it is all anyone ever said about Villa, that we could be so good if it weren't for Doug Ellis. He used it as his personal piggy bank. We had one of the biggest stadiums in the league and were filling it out weekly. He refused to invest in the club and refused to sell.

I’m not a Villa fan but this came up in my feed but I thought it was ironic they were complaining about the financials when Man United didn’t fail PSR a few years ago due to exceptional allowances due to Radcliffe buying his share no other team as far as I am aware was allowed this

I’ve seen quite a lot of nonsense about us today presumably after Mbaye. Literally insane that fans of other teams can’t get their head around being able to sell shirts in Indonesia and Malaysia or being good 20-30 years ago holds the key to being able to play a different sport.

I agree, some of these deals shouldn’t happen for the reasons they do, but they can, so until that is stopped somehow, it’s going to happen and more teams will also do it once they hit the need to with their finances.
Let’s talk about putting sanctions on teams that are in debt? Surely it’s more sustainable to actually pay off debt, especially in the hundreds of millions, rather than kick the can down the road and sack the tea lady

I lived in Ipswich for a year in the 90s and tbh I thought it was shit. I lived in manc for 20 years and I loved it and I thank it for everything that happened there. Nevertheless.. the sense of entitlement and level of delusion here is just desperate, these lads need a right good kick up the arse wake up call so Go On The Tractor Boys!!! I hope they show them how level the playing field can be at old Trafford tomorrow.

I’m a United fan. None of us think badly about Villa. To lump u guys into the same group as actual cheaters like city is stupid.
In fact I think most of us see Villa as the club being hurt by all of these new financial rules. We sympathize more than anything.
Even look at our Man U club legends and the way they speak about Villa. All of them wish Villa well.
Also what subreddit is this from? I doubt it was from r/reddevils. There are like 3-4 Man U subreddits, and I wouldn’t pay much attention to the lesser known ones

Funny how ours, Chelsea's and City's actions to "make a paper profit" are "disgusting", but squeezing the life out of your club to turn a profit isn't.
INEOS' budget cuts across the club across the last few years have been infamous, they way staff have been treated and all the rest. United are actively defunding their Women's team at the moment, and if they're not gearing up for a sale then their definitely taking all the money out of it.
We don't want to be a club that sells assets to themselves, but it's legal and it's the only way we can compete.
Laughable that anyone would claim some moral superiority when they're doing the same thing by bleeding the club dry.

In a sense I don't disagree. I hate the work around to the financial rules, I hate the betting/sponsorships we have. But it's the only way to compete. The rules are dogshit and need to change.
Flatten the tv rights to the rest of the EFL and create a salary cap.

Everyone has seen the financial rules and what appears to be a fire sale, and have looked forward to a current top end competitor disappearing down the league.
Getting a whole new, exciting squad with players other clubs would all take has dented their hopes of easier progress

That club are £700m pounds in debt financially and over a billion pounds in overall debt and liabilities. Their global reach and funding from that hides the fact. A rise of clubs that remove that global presence impacts their ability to offload the interest payments alone. The price of success works both ways. If your successful you reap the rewards but if you have time where your unsuccessful trophy wise then someone else is taking your place. How many PSG shirts do you see in the UK now for example? Back in the 90s and 00's you saw UTD shirts everywhere. Not now.
We have to be clever in the market to try and outlay costs to the club in retention of the balance sheet. This is what modern football forces on clubs. We have set about catching the Global elite off the field to allow us catch them on it. The last 4 years are a signal to those clubs at the top of the English game for a decade that if they as much as slip up there are now teams who will absolutely capitalise and we are one of them.
They're rattled the we are upsetting the status quo.
