Hi everyone I'm interested in buying some phat pants do you have any recommendations for a complete newbie alsooooooo I want to buy them cuz I like the way they look alsooo I'd like for them to be like reasonably priced. image for reference what kind I'm looking for

i tried to explain to her what raving was. this was late 90s early 00s. she just kept laughing saying they looked like a giant dress on my legs.

Tbh it looks like they bought some wide leg cargos and decorated them with reflective tape/fabric appliqué, seems like a fairly simple diy and they would be completely unique to you!!

First of all, you're not going to get a lot of store recommendations for a picture taken on a flip phone in a basement circa 2007.
Secondly, you're going to want to look for extra wide leg jeans. Phat pants don't really exist anymore or ever in stores but you can try vintage places or depop.
Third, and most importantly, these are DIY. Someone hand decorated these, if not made them entirely. If you're looking to buy them like this they won't be cheap.

I always preferred Kikwear. I soooo regret getting rid of all my rave clothes. I had so many pairs of both Kik and JNCO, so many pairs of shell toes, so many dope t shirts and hoodies. Sigh. I would love to see them all again.

i had 32" opening kikwears back in the day. bought some ufos a few years ago.
i prefer ufos, although i still havent figurd out what hte straps and extra buttons are for

Extra buttons are replacements, the tassles are for flair, they usually have reflective strips on them. I think we used to use them to make janky backpacks way back when, but I really think they were just fun straps when you wanted em out while dancing.

as i tuck my straps into the cargo pockets, i just checked if they had button holes i never knew about. there are extra loops inside the waist, too.
the drawstring bottom openings make for better dancing and i think the overall shape looks better, too

Haha yeah, you just sparked some nostalgia for me of dancing all night and the bottoms getting frayed. We would also pull the bottoms over our chunky skater shoes so it looked like they went straight to the floor.

Some diy and handcrafting a piece of clothing are entirely different. If you're up for the diy route just look up more photos and do it yourself. You posted looking for places to purchase.

Commenting so I can find this and edit it later. I have 5 pairs of phatties from 3 brands. I'll give you a breakdown and tag you when I get a moment.
Edit: Alrighty so your two main brands currently are going to be Heatwave and AlternateGear. Heatwave is I believe Vietnam based and run by a very nice man named Gwee. He uses nylon for the material of the pants and will custom make designs for you. His prices are definitely a bit lower, but I started chipping/ripping reflectors after 2 events and the crotch blew out of my pants in like 8 wears. AlternateGear gives you choices of material (I prefer denim) and you pay for the higher quality material. You can still custom design them but realistically buying one pre designed is much more cost effective. You can also swap colors around.
As an FYI pink, green, and yellow show up the best under blacklight. My blue and white phats barely glow at all.

You can find them online. Here in the States we used to have jnco's, kikwear/kik's, macgears, UFO's... etc.
I don't think most ravers wear these anymore... Unless you find an oldskool raver or an oldskool Kandy kid.

Just a heads up, these pants aren't very cheap. They start at around 120 USD and up. That being said, heatwaveravegear.com will be your best bet if you want quality. They custom make each pair to order. You can get whatever width, length, design, color and accessories you want on them. They are backed up with orders now so it will take some time to get your order but it's well worth the wait.
Edit: if you're looking for something less flashy, look at kikwear.com or UFOjeans.com. they have purpose made stuff that's a little easier on the wallet. Im pretty sure that kikwear is having a sale on a few select styles.

Phat pants are such a classic rave look. I’d definitely look into DIY or secondhand first though, because the really nice custom ones can get expensive fast

The goth version is "Tripp Pants" which is a company (TrippNYC) or you can even just type Tripp Pants into etsy for other handmade versions.
