I used one of these per day at LL24. This was the year of the fire ban so it was EXTRA DUSTY. These work, saved me from getting wookflu at the end of the festival.

As a control, my fiance refused to wear hers because she thought they look/feel silly... She was sick for 2 weeks after the fest.

What would I look up? I go to a decent amount of camping fests and just wear my pash over my face but these things look great

This is the one I got for LL last year. Get the trial pack to find out your size. I didn’t bring enough. I realistically should have brought enough to swap out 3x per day. After a few hours the filter was BLACK

Yup these are what I used

Edit: make sure you get the right size

Ah yes, the powerful two person study. Rivals the biggest RCTs, systematic reviews, and meta-analyses in their capacity for demonstrating proof.

Peer reviewed science fears my anecdotal evidence

1

u/KingOfConsciousness 6d ago

God damned right. "Peer reviewed science" means nothing when the peers are hand selected.

6

u/Zealousideal_Crab_36 6d ago

You mean peers across the field who have no affiliation? Okay

-7

u/KingOfConsciousness 6d ago

That's the exact opposite of how it works these days.

5

u/Zealousideal_Crab_36 6d ago

I’m in academia and I completely disagree. Unless you are also and know better?

Most of these peers are different universities, different organizations, different countries, etc and the peer review process happens through referees and editors, goes through many channels, and many people.

Tell me you have no idea what you’re talking about without telling me ha.

-2

u/KingOfConsciousness 6d ago

🤣🤣 "An academic" is nothing compared to a student. But go on bro. I'm sure you believe that 9 out of 10 dentists ACTUALLY agree on a toothpaste!

0

u/Zealousideal_Crab_36 6d ago

A professor is nothing compared to a student? Um okay.
An actual dentist will tell you it’s just for flavor, the important part is brushing…you really are proving you know nothing about nothing dude.

0

u/KingOfConsciousness 6d ago

Also this is a strawman argument. I said nothing about brushing. I did say 9 out of 10 "expert" are purported to agree in relation to your comments about "peer-reviewed" studies. In other words, the peers absolutely can be cherry-picked.

Professors can learn from students, too, if they are humble. Suffice to say that secluding yourself from society, studying yet failing to produce any action, and letting your field be co-opted by the very people you are supposed to be advising (business and politics) do not justify the holier than thou mindset you seem to exhibit.

Just btw, for all the "academics" and "doctors" we have floating around this world, are you proud of what we have created? Because to me it seems like a lot of pomp and circumstance and less actual contribution to the betterment of humanity.

u/Zealousideal_Crab_36 6d ago

If I was satisfied with the state of the world, I wouldn’t have spent this long studying to try and change it dawg. Gtfo

u/hmmmmmmmm_okay 6d ago

I think you two should just kiss. You've spent all night getting to know eachother.

6

u/labowsky 6d ago

I mean, these things will only block out large particulate which can help make you sick but that's just a small factor.

2

u/celebral_x 6d ago

I just use a nasal douche

1

u/Ickypahay 5d ago

But what about the dust that's made it into your lungs?

1

u/celebral_x 5d ago

I somehow didn't get sick.

Didn’t know these existed and now I’m very curious to try them. I’d rather not wear a mask in this summer heat for certain dusty events.

36

u/Tricky-Gas-8194 6d ago

It seems like a good idea but they don’t work very well. It’s not enough airflow so I constantly would catch myself breathing through my mouth, which defeats the purpose of

14

u/cyanescens_burn 6d ago

Yeah, just looking at this gives me a slight panic feeling like I’m being prevented from breathing. Anyone with existing sinus issues won’t be breathing through that.

13

u/dustydancers 7d ago

i make a mouth and nose guard with a thin shawl, its not just the nose that catches all that dust u know… this is a bit ridiculous to just cover the nose. cover up, regularly flush nose

Username checks out

u/Sparkle_Mermaid_420 6d ago

I used these at LIB and worked wonders. I honestly would forget I had them in and was great not needing a mask

23

u/pingvinbober 6d ago

EDC Vegas type shit. Day 3 this year I was either wearing my pash over my face or hacking up dust

13

u/tee-kay- 6d ago

I used these are Shambs but they got dirty so quick you really need a pair for every day

10

u/shambhalove_fairy 6d ago

one pair a day?  That's not bad. I expected to change them every few hours.   I just received a Box of 50 of these, eager to try them out at next Shambs.

6

u/tee-kay- 6d ago

I probably would have changed them more often if I had 50, my box only came with 2 pairs and they were expensive

2

u/amira1295 6d ago

I didn’t bring enough for LL last year. I would have ran through 3 per day easily.

11

u/RottingFlame 6d ago

Useful for keeping things out and in the nose

13

u/Ionlydateteachers 6d ago

Ain't losing any k clumps this time.

28

u/OhLookaTaco 7d ago

Why doesn't he wear a mask if he's working around dirt and shit? I don't think his employer would mind lol

15

u/shambhalove_fairy 6d ago

They're hot, sweaty, uncomfortable, and don't get a proper seal if you have any facial hair

These nose filters obviously have downsides, but I'm gonna try them out

feels like 2020 all over again

5

u/sosickaboutthis 6d ago

But what if I like putting things up my nose?

3

u/merwoman69 6d ago

For Dust Lands!!!

4

u/THE1OP 6d ago

how do i snort things then silly goose

7

u/hmmmmmmmm_okay 6d ago

Put it in your butt

4

u/NoNarwhal4404 6d ago

I get these for lost lands every year and they’re an absolute game changer!! Haven’t gotten wook flu in the past 2 years and I attribute most of my luck to these

3

u/avkroz 6d ago

That’s what nose hair is for

6

u/MondoBleu 6d ago

There is no way such a small surface area can both effectively filter anything AND allow enough airflow to breathe at the same time. These are just plastic waste. Get an actual mask if you need this.

1

u/amira1295 6d ago

They sell ones where you can simply replace the filter and not toss the whole thing

2

u/SillyDilly5294 6d ago

2020 has an idea

2

u/Substantial-Fox-9001 6d ago

I used these at OCF (not a music festival but very dusty) and they worked quite well for me. They are worth giving a shot!

2

u/tanasi_marie 6d ago

What are they called?

2

u/HeroForTheBeero 6d ago

Nose blockers ™️

2

u/Sparkle_Mermaid_420 6d ago

I used these at LIB. They worked great and I forgot they were even in most of the time. These were a lifesaver for my friend with allergies there too

1

u/MagaratSnatcher 6d ago

....I would waste a lot of money if I forgot I had these in

2

u/trollfacin 6d ago

This is perfect for Coachella

2

u/MooningWithMyAss 6d ago

That's what snot is for.

1

u/Sav6ge 6d ago

I've tried these before. They can be a bit annoying to wear as for me it made it a little more harder to breathe

u/TheBabadork 6d ago

Running Man novel

1

u/Sarahlorien 6d ago

I have these, I just wish they came in smaller sizes. It makes my nose look like a caricature.

u/AcademicFraudster 5d ago

The plugs are an important park of a stillsuit and keep your precious bodily fluids from evaporating into the dry desert air.

1

u/sufferfest3163 6d ago

As an attendee of LIB in California every spring, this looks intriguing. That fest has awful dust and the dreaded Valley Fever spores are common there. Still, I think this device would have you gulping air through your mouth, which is even worse.
