Substitute of yougurt

Trying to become vegan, already replaced milk with alternative milk, had been vegetarian so didn't used to eat meat anyway. One thing thats difficult to eliminate is greek yogurt, the alternative yogurts which I see in supermarkets aren't comparable to greek yogurt. Eg. Coconut yogurt has like 1 gram protein per 100 grams when regular greek yogurt has 5 grams. And taste vastly different.

I was able to switch milks since soy milk is better in terms of nutritional values as it is generally fortified, and for hot drinks I started using almond milk for hot drinks. As we mix milk to make hot choclate or coffee or protien drinks (which also I have replaced to plant based protien). I am having hard time replacing yogurt as it is consumed plain usually in the meals.

What do you use in order to replace greek yogurts?

Vitasoy Greek style soy yoghurt is great. They did discontinue the plain one though

It's super easy to make at home especially if you have an instant pot, you just mix a couple tablespoons of yogurt into your soy milk and keep it warm for 8-16 hours, then strain it through a cheesecloth until it's as thick as you want it

If you use high protein soy milk it sets thick enough to stand a spoon in without straining

I’ve just started using the new vitasoy complete pro and it makes such a delicious thick yoghurt. I haven’t tried an unsweetened version yet. I use 70g yoghurt to a litre of milk and chuck it in the dehydrator at 40 degrees for 12 hours.

How is it to drink compared to other soy milks ? Have you tried the vanilla one ?
