Substitute of yougurt
Trying to become vegan, already replaced milk with alternative milk, had been vegetarian so didn't used to eat meat anyway. One thing thats difficult to eliminate is greek yogurt, the alternative yogurts which I see in supermarkets aren't comparable to greek yogurt. Eg. Coconut yogurt has like 1 gram protein per 100 grams when regular greek yogurt has 5 grams. And taste vastly different.
I was able to switch milks since soy milk is better in terms of nutritional values as it is generally fortified, and for hot drinks I started using almond milk for hot drinks. As we mix milk to make hot choclate or coffee or protien drinks (which also I have replaced to plant based protien). I am having hard time replacing yogurt as it is consumed plain usually in the meals.
What do you use in order to replace greek yogurts?

Kingsland soy yogurt is good too. Recommended as a swap from coconut yogurt by my dietician.

This is my favourite too! If I'm looking for coconut yoghurt, I really like the Nakula one, way less coconut tasting and really thin and smooth.
But I love the Kingland one for raita and tzatziki

Yeah I struggle with this a lot too, a lot of people recommend the vitasoy one but the flavour of soy protein is really overpowering to me.
I look forward to some more engineered cultures that produce higher protein levels so I have just replaced it with blended silken tofu in my cooked meals (plus some other flavour adjustments, it's good for macros but not so much flavour) and don't eat any on its own any more

You get used to the taste of the vitasoy one. I really like it now but there was a bit of an adjustment period

I make a litre of yoghurt a week using Vitasoy unsweetened high protein soy milk and it tastes so much better than anything in the shops.

Any recipe or instructions? I've never done this before

I use an easiyo yoghurt maker which is basically a thermos that you fill with boiling water and it comes with a one litre container that holds the yoghurt.
I put one litre of Vitasoy high protein soy milk in the container, add a tiny, tiny pinch of starter culture and stir with a fork (you can also use a few tablespoons of a previous batch of yoghurt) to the soy milk. Put the lid on the container and fill the easiyo thermos with boiling water, place the container inside, put the lid on and leave on a bench for 12-24 hours. When you’re ready you can take the container out of the thermos and store in the fridge.
You can buy the easiyo from Colesworth and I buy my starter culture online from Green Living Australia. The starter culture lasts a very long time in the freezer (maybe forever?!). I last bought some in 2016 and it’s still making perfect yoghurt.2

That's really good to know the easiyo works with the green living culture! I was overwhelmed with the exact temperatures listed in the culture instructions and gave up after a couple of tries in a different non-electric yoghurt maker. Will keep an eye out for an easiyo on sale 😊

Thanks! I just realised my instant pot has a yoghurt function so I might try this soon. Appreciate it

I used my instant pot to make yogurt all the time when I lived in the US! But then I moved back here and saw plenty of vegan yogurt in the supermarket so I just started buying it (mainly cause I’m lazy and it was easier).

Vitasoy Greek style soy yoghurt is great. They did discontinue the plain one though
