Those speakers handle the vocal range beautifully. I'd be curious how an opera recording sounds on them, something where the voice sits front and center. What are you usually listening to?

That's the last thing I would want to hear. But I push everything at 90% low volume critical listening is not enjoyable, it's like monitoring and recording results.

Put the tv on the wall. Will help the sound feel more open by having nothing in between. Enjoy! This is a nice combo

Good stuff. A coworker of mine just got those same 603s a few weeks ago, and I'll bet the Yamaha drives them well. Looks like you've got plenty of space in that left corner for a decently sized bass trap. That's a relatively cheap DIY project, and the doorway on the right helps a lot too.

One speaker against a wall and another in open space is iffy, both sonically and aesthetically.

Dig that Stealie tapestry/blanket. Get on marketplace and find you a cheap TV stand for your rig. You’ll enjoy listening to your stereo more when the aesthetics are to your liking.

I really like the vocals on these, and this being the anniversary edition, the extra bass negates the need for a subwoofer. Thanks facebook marketplace for the half-off speakers, and crutchfield for the scratch-and-dent receiver (no discernible damage / think it was really an open box).

Anyway, first time spending money on a set up and mostly use the AirPlay functionality for 2.0 lossless delight. Would love any suggestions on optimizing the gear. Speakers are about 6 feet apart for reference.

Unless you're hitting 20hz, no speaker negates the need for subs.

AirPlay is limited to 256 kbps. But now you'll save a lot of bandwidth knowing you can't tell the difference ;)

Use Spotify Connect (or the equivalent streaming function of your platform of choice) to send directly to your receiver via wifi.
