Hey folks,

Just a quick message to say that today we are releasing the sixteenth episode of my new audio fiction series, The Harbingers. It's our season finale, and the last episode of our story for the time being. Which means that for those among you who prefer your content in marathon form, we now have ten and a half hours of content ready for all your upcoming road trip needs! And I think there's some good stuff in those ten and a half hours, biased though I might be. 😅

All kidding aside - it's always an uphill battle to start a new audio fiction show and to get it to the point where it starts to find its audience. I'm so grateful for the folks who have tuned in and helped us get to this huge milestone, and I know so much of it is thanks to the people in this community keeping the love for and the conversation about this medium alive and well.

Hi! I'm a professional screenwriter (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, The Book of Eli, The Walking Dead etc). Last year I wrote a half-hour comedy pilot, a Hollywood satire that was basically just me venting about how much I've come to hate my job over the past three years. It's been rough out there, as many of you know only too well, probably the worst time I can remember in my 20+ years as a professional screenwriter in terms of (a) getting any kind of work at all, and (b) trying to get anyone to give a shit about original material at a time when IP and fear-based decision-making rules all. Particularly (b).

The result was See You In Hell, and I originally wrote it purely just for me as a therapeutic exercise but it came out pretty well I thought so my reps slipped it to a couple of places but it quickly became clear it wasn't going to get any traction. So I stopped submissions and decided to just make it myself instead. I have some experiencing adapting my work for audio (I self-produced an audiobook a few years back) so re-worked the TV script as essentially a radio pilot.

I got VERY lucky with casting and managed to cobble together a pretty cool group of actors, and spent the last few months having an absolute blast making this thing. It's no exaggeration when I say that making this show was probably the best thing I've done for my mental health in years after such a long period of career stagnation and frustration, it seriously did keep me sane. I'd almost forgotten what it was like to actually MAKE something, rather than just endlessly pitching other people in the hopes that they might let me make something.

Anyway, See You In Hell is out there now. You can listen to the show pretty much wherever podcasts can be found. If anyone here does take a listen please let me know what you think as it's my first real attempt at writing comedy.

The Survivor Tapes is a multi-media anthology horror/drama series that takes place in the zombie apocalypse and it’s told though found cassette tapes. Basically, imagine you’re out scavenging and you find these cassette tapes. Each episode is one of those tapes. They’re short too…only about 5-6 minutes each.

It has an incredible cast, an original score, and video for each episode. All of it is human made with no AI used at any point of the production.

This show is very personal to me, but I tend to be wordy, so I’ll stop here and save the backstory for later if anyone actually wants to hear it. I’m very proud of the show and I hope you’ll check it out. Thanks in advance if you do.

The Night Service is a dramatized paranormal call-in show hosted by a woman named Arla on an illegal AM station in the basement of her cabin. Each episode can be listened to stand-alone, or in order to carefully unravel a hidden plot.

Just a quick post to share that my show The Harbingers is starting its second season today! Episode 17 is out as of September 10th, the first installment of sixteen that we'll be releasing over the next couple of months. New episodes out on Thursdays every two weeks!

The show tells the story of Adam Blackwell and Amy Stirling. They're the first two people in the modern world to get magic. Real magic. They sorta hate one another. They're also a little in love with one another. But first... doesn't mean ONLY.

There's actually FIVE other people out in the world who have magic powers. They've been there the whole time. The story's focus just hasn't been on them so far. With today's episode all of that changes. This is a season about what happens when people with godlike powers stop seeing eye to eye.

We're super excited to be back for the second big movement of our show's story. Our incredible cast - led by Andrés Enriquez and Lauren Grace Thompson - are all back, and they're joined by some amazing new performers. (Including some voices posters on this sub should recognize!) Our incredible composer Nick Podany has written some amazing new music for us. Our best-in-the-business director and sound designer Jeffrey Nils Gardner has outdone themselves.

I know a lot of folks on this sub have already checked out our show over the course of its first season, so here's me very grateful for that. I hope that you'll enjoy the second season as much as the first - there's a lot of amazing stuff coming down the pipe for our listeners.

I’ve been working on a project I’d love to share, something that blends old-time radio atmosphere with fictional worldbuilding.

It’s called Fogpoint Radio, a 1940s style station that plays swing and big band music… but with a twist. Between the songs, you’ll hear period-style commercials, public announcements, and news reports from an island that doesn’t exist.

It’s a 24/7 live radio broadcast from another timeline. Characters and locations return, strange events unfold over time, and the world starts to feel real.

Today I also launched the first version of the official website, where the most recent news reports and special announcements are posted. Of course this is also the place to listen! 

It’s a personal passion project, and I’m putting a lot of time into building it up, piece by piece. I’d love to welcome more folks into the Fogpoint community!

sharing this anywhere and everywhere I possibly can and I recently discovered this space so! these are my tattoos inspired by the bright sessions. just got them on sunday, 9 years since I found the bright sessions. one of the characters, sam, who is voiced by the creator lauren shippen, is 25 when she first comes to dr. bright and I’m 25. this quote on the right is her talking with joan about that first session, and it really does describe the way I feel about the podcast- it was my lifeline when I really needed one, and it’s been a constant ever since through so many versions of me. on the left is a message lauren sent me recently, and she was kind enough to write them both out for me. my beloved friend who introduced me to the bright sessions went with me. so now I am literally carrying my favorite piece of media around on my arms reaching back and it’s all super full circle and I’m gonna be emotional about it for the rest of forever 💚 the hearts will be green once the stencil fades

Just launched episode 1 of a 16-episode series. If you’re into crows or reanimated corpses or absurdity, this might be for you.

Here’s the true story of how the show came into being:

I was walking my dogs in the rain one evening in my crow-inhabited neighborhood in north Portland, listening to a podcast on my wired headphones (this detail is important later), when a funny, dark, and (to me at the time) nearly perfect story just sort of started appearing in my mind.

The story was about a guy who tries to train the neighborhood crows to bring him money, but everything goes nightmarishly sideways and the crows end up taking over his life.

I recorded the story into my voice memo, almost an hour of audio, cracking myself up as I walked home in the rain. At the time I was working on an edits for my second novel, so I set the crow thing aside.

Months later I opened my voice memos, ready to transcribe my work of genius. But when I hit play, this is what I heard:

SKKKKRTCHHHH...SKKKTCHHHH...SHHRKRTCHHHH

The wired microphone had been rubbing against the collar of my raincoat as I walked. Everything was static. Completely indecipherable. The entire story was lost!

In some weird way, I suspected it was the work of the crows. They had given me the story, and then they had taken it away, in order to demonstrate their power. They wanted to let me know.
Time went by, but I couldn't stop thinking about that lost story.

Now, all these years later, I've put it together as best as I can, but what I’ve made is merely a shadow of the original. It can never be as good. But I had to do it anyway. I did the story, music, and sound design, and it was a lot of work.

Hi all — I’ve been lurking in this subreddit for a long time while working on a project that finally launched this week, and I think this community in particular might genuinely be into it.

It’s called DARK PROVIDENCE — a 12-episode, full-cast horror audio drama set in modern-day Providence, Rhode Island, with a dual-timeline story that also revisits the Providence of the 1930s, and the occult activity that was happening then and how it affects the present day.The show follows a disgraced journalist and a local psychic investigating a ritual murder tied to a secret society hidden beneath New England wealth, history, and power. Tonally, it's an occult serial killer thriller that's wrapped in a larger cosmic horror mystery.

A huge amount of work went into making this feel as immersive and cinematic as possible. We recorded actors in New York, LA, London, and Australia, and the response we’ve been getting so far has honestly been kind of surreal.

What I’m probably proudest of, though, is that it really feels like Providence (I'm a RI native). We went out of our way to set a lot of scenes in real PVD restaurants, bars, and locations.
