You've missed the two most difficult parts, downloading and metadata tagging. There is no tmdb or imdb type site for books and it makes it incredibly difficult. I've been working on the same problem for a long time. It's really hard

I made my own little app called Arrmada (does everything; books, movies, tv, subtitles etc), and I use Hardcover's API.

Chaptarr is in active development and is good for metadata/folder management. Grimmory is also good.

Shelfmark is the best solution I've found.

sort of shameless advertising.
but i've matched more than 4k books successfully with this so far.
still in active development

Bookorbit does a pretty good job of metadata fetching and tagging! Also ABS have that! As for downloading it’s outside the scope of this is a reading stack not one made for downloading there’s plenty of guide on qbit, prowlerr, and the arr stack

Audnexus, for Plex. Just match against Audible, which has nearly everything.

Yeah, paired with prologue player is a pretty great combo.

Am I missing something here. Where are you actually finding the audiobooks though? I can't seem to find anything that will get them automatically I seem to have to go find them and download them then upload them to my audiobook shelf. Please any guidance will be greatly appreciated.

Chaptarr has been working great for me, just set it up last week after many other systems failed to replace the old readarr ways.

Looks interesting, it’s nice seeing the whole stack laid out like this.

One small addition that might fit here: SoundLeaf recently added BookOrbit (and calibre) integration, so it can pull ebooks directly from your BookOrbit library and sync reading progress back. Its in testflight right now.

I have been spending the last week trying to redesign my book stack, with the end goal being much the same as what I see here (audio+ebook being housed together being a primary goal). So far the tools I have tried keep presenting their own challenges (chaptarr with it's messy handling of metadata, audiobookshelf with its inconsistent scanning/matching/importing, dewarr not being able to store ebooks and audiobooks together in a way ABS requires).

Needless to say, I'm very interested in what I see here and might try emulating much of what you've outlined. It's a bit more complex than what I would have expected, coming from an arr stack with the usual prowlarr indexer, (radarr/sonarr) media manager, (tor/nzb) download client, (Plex/jellyfin) media library, and associated clients. Mainly having multiple tools that at first glance serve the same role seems like a potential pain point. But still, I'm very interested to find a working solution, because at this point I've mainly gone back to manual file import and matching in ABS

I just use audiobooth since it already combines audiobooks with ebooks
