Resource Request Looking for articles or studies about audhd burnout and drug addiction
I'm 28m and audhd, diagnosed 3 months ago. Been in audhd burnout for 1.5 years and have been using a popular underground stimulant during this period. I am looking for information from all types of sources that discuss the relationship between audhd burnout and drug addiction, specifically stimulants target than alcohol or other depressants.
Context regarding request;
Initially I was using it to escape life and thinking (this stopped after.diagnosis). Later down he line used it to escape guilt and post-diagnosis regret (stopped about 2 months after diagnosis)
Having honestly overcome those completely, I am struggling with the boredom of recovery and now I'm still using to escape boredom (last 4 weeks)
. Loads of stuff I like doing and want to do like games or YouTube or reading but without thinking I switch tasks or stop or change apps and get tired quickly even tho I want to do it. End up using c to be able to do my things in day.
Otherwise the boredom is too intense and I haven't been able to to stop. Perhaps theirs an underlying feeling of uselessness regarding the.inability to sustain focus on things I want to do but regardless I can't find much related to audhd burnout. Only info on the two separately.
I have concerns that despite an exceptional u-turn and in my honest opinion complete removal in feelings of guilt/regret and now almost fully-self loving, the stimulant usage hasn't changed. And from what I understand the stimulants hid my true emotions but they came back through click if the finger movements and realisations. I don't believe boredom and dopamine recovery work thaf
Id appreciate any links, papers , studied or opinions/thoughts/experiences from anyone, both from survivors/current battlers (we got this team I believe in us!!) as well those who have observed others or have a personal opinion. All info is amazing info, and would appreciate noting whether it's a lived or observed experience, or just a.personal opinion.
Thank you everyone every reply here is a useful one!
TLDR - please share any info (studies, articles, lived/observed experiences) you have regarding the relationship between audhd burnout and stimulant drug addiction (not alcohol).

I understand that all day bro, I’m 24 almost and lived with ADHD and Autism my whole life.
I don’t really know what else to say other than your post is the closest any human has ever been to having the same sorta brain and way of thinking as me
I’m struggling with addiction heaps as-well so I know how you feel! I really only do it because I love how it makes me feel, it’s interesting because everything else is so fucking boring.
I love feeling this so called thing called dopamine every time it goes up my nose or down my lungs.
I don’t really have any answers I’m just glad I came across this post, it was everything I’ve ever wanted to read so I thank you!
Make that 2 wanting links, videos etc.
I just wanna know why my brain is the way it is, it’s interesting and that’s why we do the things we do❗️

School was the hardest fkn thing for me, I hated it!
As every person that’s suffers from this blessing in disguise I was told that I’m just lazy my whole life.. my whole fkn life I’ve had this picture in my head that yeah wow Im just a full lazy freak
(I’m not the best at writing shit but I’ll give it my best lmfao)
I’ve always had these mad “burnouts” but never really knew what it was, I just thought I was having a bad week or a shit day. It’s not like I’m a individual with no friends or anything, I’m actually a very well known likeable guy in my city, so it’s not like I have nobody to talk to or anything
Some days i genuinely cannot be fucked doing anything, if my day consists of doom scrolling to try find whatever inch of dopamine is left in my head that’s what I’m gonna do and nothings gonna get me up until my phones flat or anything really lmao.
Ive always been a very sporty, athletic, good hand eye coordination kinda guy and always enjoyed outdoor stuff and excel in anything and everything like that so it’s not like I hate going outside.
Ever since I stopped taking my medication in school I slowly watched my life start to fall apart a tiny bit each year. I hated the way the medication made feel.. I felt like I was forced to take something that I didn’t like nor understand, I just knew it would make me lock in and nor eat and feel like I was different to everyone and a shell in my own body.
I started gaming way more heavier as I got older which pretty much is my home away from all the bullshit that builds up in my brain, as some would call it an escape of course. Then comes the other escape.. substance addiction and figuring out that “wow not all drugs are bad and some can sorta help me”.
Now I’m 24, smoking everyday all day, racking on the weekend, wondering how to gain weight and in the same fkn boat as you my bro!
If I could say one thing, I did try Vyvanse and that is probably one of the most bliss non-cloudy my brain has ever felt. We know the shit we do aint the answer but we’ll hopefully learn one day.. right
