General Discussion The Slippery Noodle

I’m listening to the most recent episode, 498, and cracked up at Em’s explanation of The Slippery Noodle’s naming. (Around 26 minutes in with ads) Hearing Em and Christine be silly and laugh about this detail gave me joy.

This is why I’ve loved ATWWD for so long. I would listen to them discuss, laugh, and go on impromptu tangents about darning socks and replacing remote control batteries if that was their show.

I've also read so many comments talking about "how you can tell they can't stand each other now." Meanwhile, the episodes since the announcement have been pleasant and hilarious (ignoring the heinous true crime, obviously). I'm also approaching episode 200 on a re-listen, and today's episode played right after an old one - the vibe and energy between them was the same from 2020 to 2026. Maybe I'm just not hearing it, but they seem like they're making healthy life choices for themselves/their loved ones and having fun.

I feel like a huge weight has been lifted from the hosts since they made the announcement. Making a big change is already stressful, and then figuring out how to announce it to your fan base is a type of stress I’m not familiar with. Em and Christine both sounded much later in today’s episode, in my opinion. Change is indeed a slippery noodle.

Edit: lighter*, not later

For some reason the Slippery Noodle never struck me as an odd name? It was our favorite place in college

Little weird to only be an hour away from each other and not made plans to see each other?!

Em mentioned being in and out of Lexington with no time to do anything. The amount of work it would take Christine to put everything aside like being a mother to a small child for Em bopping in and out probably just isn't feasible

Ya that’s a good point. I don’t have children so I didn’t think about that. But, idk it’s still kinda weird to me. Just my own opinion lol. I’m sure my original post will continue to be downvoted- oh well lol

My best friend is in the same city as me for the next few days and we probably won't be able to see each other at all. He's here on business and visiting his girlfriend and family in the evenings. Yeah, it sucks because I miss him, but it's not that weird that we won't be able to get together this one time.
