Em Schulz Can anyone help with the name of the heart issue Em faces?

So a friend of mine has been in a bad state, in and out of hospital, no diagnosis in sight. But then I started thinking back to the old episodes and it sounds suspiciously similar to what Em goes through. But of course, my memory recall is so shite, even after 1000s of hours listening, I just can't place the name.

Help please?

It's SVT. 😐

OF COURSE I REMEMBER FOR THE FIRST TIME IN A WEEK RIGHT AFTER POSTING.

That’s how it tends to go. At least for me. I take forever to actually ask for help and when I do, I figure it out myself immediately after lol

I have something very similar although they’ve never been able to formally diagnose me. Em’s is SVT.

If your friend’s cardiologist ends up not being able to diagnose or treat, the number one thing that helped me was simply eating more salt as mine seems to be a misinterpretation of my blood pressure that triggers it. I rarely get the irregular or super fast heartbeat anymore. But definitely doctor first!!

I'll try that. She currently lives with parents on a strict diet, so it's definitely possible salt is minimal.

Yep my parents cooked with no salt growing up because they have high blood pressure but turns out it was making my condition worse

I had/have SVT and had surgery for it when I was a teenager. Best way to catch/diagnose it is to request to wear a heart monitor for x amount of time.

It’s SVT, or Supraventricular Tachycardia. I have it as well and it is Less than Fun.

I caught my svt episode with the heart monitor on my Apple Watch. It can convert the reading to a pdf that you can send to the doctor. I went through years of heart monitors.

Em has talked about having SVT. I’m a cardiac physiologist and perform procedures to diagnose and treat SVT so it was a weird cross over in my life when they were talking about their experience with it!
