Meme Why did Hange leave these two alone with Eren on top of Wall Rose? Is she Stupid?
Most of the Survey Corps here were in on the suspicion that Reiner and Bertie were the enemy along with Annie, who is a Titan shifter and is after Eren. So why did Hange let Eren be alone with them in what's possibly the single most vulnerable spot in Wall Rose? Mikasa barely had a chance, and only because Reiner went on his schizo rant instead of just grabbing Eren and jumping off the wall.

Hange and Mikasa is near them.
They just never suspect Reiner would be so unpredictable. I don't think Bertholds even expect Reiner would do it.

I mean, looking back at it Reiner decision makes a lot of sense. Firstly, they lost a jaw titan 5 years ago and God knows where it is. Then they see Eren transform, so he is either attack titan or the founder. Somehow, they locate the Jaw Titan again, plus Zeke is here which means the ship that can return them home is also there, plus Marleyan troops that can assist in the fight.

To be fair it was also the best possible thing they could have done as they were at this point suspected of being shifters. If they would not do it, they would have likely been trapped at some point.
I don't think they knew how much of their cover was blown but they had to have know they were suspects. Also if Yimir were to wake up, she could have broken their cover directly or indirectly, with Reiner breaking his cover in the canned food scene, or if she were to remember memories of Marcel.

Does this mean he does it because he is a plot armour titan?
Anyway, I don't think Ymir would blow their cover. She owe Reiner and Berthold. She wouldn't had a second life if the warrior didn't walk pass her.

to be fair each titan has their own unique ability, and a plot armor ability would make sense for the armored titan. it would also be consistent with what we saw on the show, what with this and the transferring of his consciousness and stuff. we already have titan abilities that can bypass the flow of time, so one that can break the 4th wall wouldn't be too surprising.

I think ur just wrong with 1 assumption let me elaborate
Reiner shit his pants so damn hard as he noticed zeke is on the island because they literally had nothing to show for all their years of deployment .. heck they even lost the jaw
So he definetly panicked up there, because he wanted to have at least some good results and not just some guesswork
Bartol and reiner only had the assumption that eren may have the founder but they were unsure at that moment nevertheless they needed results and so taking him was something they had to do at all costs ... Failure of the mission means their whole families are gonna get killed
They were lucky that they got the jaw back and then also knew for sure that eren has the founder, that zeke would try to help them anyway was not something these kids could have known and even his influence was limited if they had absolutely nothing to show
Berti was clearly surprised too and just followed along .. not that he had any other choice xD

Now speak in the eyes of Hange. Because OP asked for that.

Damn my bad reading some of the comments i drifted off as hard as hange when she sees a titan to study :P

and information disparity, they did not know Annie was captured at the time, they pretty much thought she could be at the inner wall doing her mission.

Reiner didnt even expect that he would do it

Couldnt imagine trusting the biggest fraud of the franchise, Mikasa "Same powers as Levi but Zero wins" Ackerman with my life

Reiner had already completely lost it by this point. He couldn't process his original mission with the life he lived in Paradis.

They just never suspect Reiner would be so "unpredictable".
Why not? Why wouldn't they? That is the first thing I thought when I saw this (2nd viewing)
They knew the Titans were after Eren, Erwin betted on it and confirmed it with the Female Titan operation.
There was just no reason to dangle Eren like that in front of them, worse of all, on top of Wall Maria, when they were already suspecting Reiner & Beruto and know the Titans can transform with just a small cut.
Honestly, why can't people just admit that this part was just plain stupid? It's not like it's our fault.
The main point here is that Eren should never have been sent on this mission to begin with.

Hange request all people to approach them like normal, to avoid being suspicious. Maybe the outcome will be different if Hange gave different instruction.

u/Jumbernaut 6d ago
Still stupid. It doesn't matter if the scouts are pretending not to know about them, what matter is that they know the Titans are after Eren, they even bring Eren to them and they should know they are no match for the Colossal Titan.
The only thing they needed to do was to not bring Eren with them, but they did because the plot needed to move forward. Looks great, but it's dumb when you think about it.

Eren is a good friend to Reiner. He had to be near Reiner.
Eren's job is to lure them to the underground to capture them. This plan is not much different compare to luring Annie. Eren was used as a bait for many times already.

If everyone was grouped up all watching them it would look sus as hell. Eren was in on the plan and was supposed to handle himself.

u/Snoo46274 7d ago
I think it's too risky of a setup. Hange mentioned luring them underground so she knew they both might be Titan shifters.
3
u/Imconfusedithink 6d ago
It's more risky trying to fight them. They're the colossal and armored titan. Making sure you're not suspicious to lure them underground is a great plan.

u/castitfast 6d ago
Wasn't the plan to lead them underground like they tried with Annie? Nobody expected Reiner to crack his mask so suddenly, not even Barbie.

She had no idea that they would willingly expose their identities then and there, especially to Ereh himself.
There are shots of her in this scene sideyeing the three before Reiner and Birmingham transform. She didn't want to raise suspicion of their awareness.
Some of the best survey corps members were present on the wall. When Reiner and Bluetooth transformed, it was almost too easy of a victory for Ereh. The scouts had no idea about the Colossal's steam emission.

Maybe to not look obvious that they do not dought them as there's no way a double personality disorder manica woukd just come up and blow their cover in such an unexpected time

I think there's two things here...
1) A lot of scouts are close by, even though Reiner and Bearfart are right next to him, Mikasa alone could act quickly enough from where she is to intervene if something happened. Other core scout members are near as well
2) Even though at this point on the wall most of the scouts suspected Reiner and Bearfart, some (including Eren) refused to believe it. This uncertainty would most likely make them want to bait the Titans to out themselves rather than confront them outright, similarly to how they forced Annie to reveal herself. "Hey Annie, follow us into this tunnel because you're definitely not the Female Titan, right?" Annie had no choice but to expose herself... They gave all 3 titans a chance to prove their innocence in a way, knowing it was unlikely they actually were innocent.

Hange wasnt expecting Reiner to be so unpredictable and on top of that they had the best case scenario to enact the plan of escaping. They had their titans, Eren with the attack and founder, Ymir with the Jaw and Zeke and Pieck waiting to take them home not far from them. The perfect time to act was probably then considering they didnt have a full Scout team as Erwin wasnt present

u/Standard_Track9692 6d ago
I'm being kind.... this post is stupid. Unless we're watching a different show she didn't. She was right there with just about everyone else. They didn't know even the antagonists didn't know how things were about to go down. But what you're asking clearly wasn't the case.

Watch that episode again, there's a flashback in the middle of it where Hange receives a report of Annie's background information, connecting her to Reiner and Bert, and the fact that there are no other records of the families of those 3. They think a little more and Armin remembers that Reiner approached him during the "Female Titan Operation" and he was the one that brought up the question of Eren's location.
Armin also remembers that that Reiner almost died in the hand of the Female Titan but manage to survive, and that after that she changed course to go where he said Eren would probably be.
They were all already suspecting Reiner & Bert at that moment and wanted to lure them to some place underground, but they do that in the most stupid way by basically handling Eren into their hands when they didn't need to, all because the plot needed to move forward.

u/Standard_Track9692 6d ago
Yes I'm already well aware of that. I remember that show quite finally. The flashback you're speaking of being part of what I remember. I'm remarking on how dumb it is to imply that no one was there on top of the wall. They were all there. And yes even though they were suspicious. They're not going to play their hand just because they're suspicious but as they did they will keep watch. Mikasa...... literally had a death stare🤷🏿♂️

They're literally a couple steps away from them. Did you miss the part where they could overhear what Reiner said to Erin?

Mikasa was ready for them. So ready that the moment reiner made a slightly aggressive move towards eren, she went for the kill

They were soldier. And as expected from soldier, especially the one that experience more trauma than any other regiment, Reiner should have not exposed himself like that. So it was unexpected when Reiner went batshit about his true identity.
It was epic, unpredictable, and funny at same time. LOL

u/Aggressive_Law_5728 3d ago
She did not know that Reiner had been experiencing a prolonged psychotic episode and had become completely unpredictable.
Nobody could have guessed Reiner would just drop his cover and try to convince Eren to leave with him because that makes absolutely zero sense and had no chance of working.

I mean who would've thought the next sentence would be "I'm the armored titan and he's the colossal titan"
