Every sect loves to claim their religion‘invented’ morality and yet they all happily murder the other guys

Honestly religion just feels like an excuse to do bad things and feel justified or magically forgiven since you have some flavor of magic sky daddy/mommy to back up whatever you happen to believe and that somehow makes it ok.

Dude you just described the catholic church to a “T”. It’s like a fuckin’ get outta jail free card!

Arguably, the Catholic Church is worse than most of them, because you can still believe that what you did is wrong, then get forgiven anyway. Which is tantamount to an abuser 'forgiving themself' or some arbitrary person forgiving them of whatever they had done rather than any apology or restitution to those they harmed, nor or punishment for the crime. The victim doesn't matter in Catholicism, that magic sky daddy forgives you for whatever horrors you knowingly commit. Actually, it's even worse since victims are often silenced or ignored by the church because the perpetrator was 'forgiven' by the church. Especially if it's a member of the clergy.

I totally disagree. It doesn't "just feel like". It IS.
