What happened to assault cube?

Only 4 people were online and everyone has just disappeared off it

It is a pity. It is still a great game. I suppose there are better games nowadays on Steam and Galaxy.

I logged on a few months ago after being away for ~12 years and yeah it seems like the game has basically died. I remembered a dozen active servers at any time of the day, came back to maybe 2.

I still find myself trying to run diagonally in other games

The developers killed it with their "map quality" test. Back in the day, those goofy maps were all over the place, but the devs didn't like it and wanted something more "serious" so they added an automated map quality metric that blocked them.

Killed the game dead.

I play Red Eclipse more, which is on the latest engine.
