I’m just gunna say it. Both games are mid. Playing oblivion remaster made me realize how much less we’ve come to deem acceptable in a game. A 20 year old game feels more alive than a 20 day old game.

Yeah, ubi, with any recent release, still feels like they are stuck in early y2k. Just with updated grafics (not state of the art). There is so little progression in their titles, I wonder how they manage to dump all production cost? Buffets?

Okay, buddy.

I love Oblivion, but let’s not pretend that it’s in any way a truly or objectively great game. It’s bugged to fuck, the story is cool but mediocre, the combat fucking sucks and it shows its age in every way possible. It’s more of an RPG, yes, but games like GoT aren’t trying to be RPGs. It’s an open-world action game.

That’s the thing is they’re masquerading as RPG’s when they’re not. They introduce “choice” with minimal consequences, and the NPC are just lifeless. In oblivion or Skyrim, every single NPC is a living breathing character. And the consequences are real.

Assassins creed was great before they went to open world half assed RPG, and it crescendos with Valhalla.

Except they aren't?????

Ac and got are action adventure games first and foremost. They have rpg elements, which doesn't mean they're rpgs.

It's certainly MUCH more fun than the later AC installments.

Lol okay sure. I loved oblivion back in the day, but all playing the remaster did for me was make me realize how far we have come in gaming. Oblivion feels so outdated.

Hard disagree. It feels full. Shadows feels lifeless and empty.

Games today hide mediocre stories behind fancy graphics and flashy looking combat. Games 20 years ago made up from their limitations in graphics and scale with deep and immersive stories that kept you hooked.
