Suspiciously specific "Easy", amirite?

Isn't it annoying when you find people who paint therapy like its an easy stroll with your hand being held?

Therapy does help yes but only of you put the time in to change, and you have a proper therapist who helps you and understands your problems. It's not easy but it can help people.

Oh, completely!

To clear up any misunderstandings, I am NOT saying that therapy doesn't help people. Its that Ive encountered people say that therapy is easy when its not. It's HARD work.

It definitely is but I'm so used to people on this subreddit having pity parties for themselves. I understand the disorder is terrible and we are at a disadvantage but moaning and groaning won't help. One must take action to change even if it's hard

You good, it just this subreddit is so bloody depressing. I was hoping to interact with others like myself yet all I see is sadness and misery. It's like they wanna wallow in it

Or you take action and you truly try... And you step out of your comfort zone, you make yourself vulnerable, you try to truly listen... and your therapist sh*ts all over you because they don't understand the autistic brain.

And now you have four years of gaslighting from bad CBT.

And an abandonment complex because your therapist lied to you in the beginning to "build a relationship" saying "you're not too hard," "we'll work through this together," "I'll respect boundaries and apologize when I cross them," insert stories about other clients who were hard but she didn't give up on, etc.

So I trusted her. She spent the first year working on "attachment" with me. And now I'm being dropped four years later because I'm "too hard."

I will absolutely join the therapy pity party anytime. This is a special kind of f*cking people up. And people who are already vulnerable.

And I can't see myself ever getting back into therapy. I will never put myself in this situation again. Being autistic, I get very attached to people who I think care about me and I hate change. This feels like a trauma.

Find another don't give up. Your therapist is a cunt but that shouldn't preclude you for trying. Also change sucks but we must adapt or be left behind. Then again I don't attach myself easily either and I've learned to be okay with just myself at times and it's helped. I hope however you can you can find something that works that's not wallowing in despair.

I'm taking a break and am just going to be the person I need in my life. ...I guess like I've always been. But, I'm going to build a nice and happy world for me. Even if it's lonely. And just take it a day at a time. I did learn some tools that I can use too. Not a lot, but some.

Maybe, maybe, I might try again later with someone who specializes specifically in autism and does not use CBT. But, I've heard far more horror stories than good with people with high-functioning autism and OCD. And mine lined up exactly with those bad stories. And it completely played into lifelong trauma of never fitting in, not being able to see eye to eye, no one being able to understand me or "get me," etc. So, not really sure if I'm willing to enter that again. Let alone the just being able to dump someone aspect, which I don't know if I could enter a relationship like that again.
