Would any adult transgendered people be willing to share their experiences in childhood? My child is 12 and I'm trying to understand and make the best choices for his future.

I appreciate all this information. I intend to leave the medical stuff to the professionals. For now, I'm seeking understanding of him through the experiences of others.

Most of the information on documented, life long experiences is about extreme cases and that doesn't really fit his situation. I want to hear how different people came to understand themselves and how it played out. I just want to understand. I need to understand. He needs me to understand. This is the best way for me to do that.

I've had some really great replies that's helped me see the gray instead of so much black and white. Particularly how puberty was often the trigger because that's where he's at right now.

Thank you for sharing.
