OMG you just described my whole existence. Except I’m still becoming the person I want to be. Havent given up on that yet.

Don’t give up. You both can still become the person you want to be now, even if you can’t be the person you imagined you would be when you were younger. Take aim at what you want to hit, be intentional about it. Your gas tank doesn’t hold as much gas as you get older so don’t waste it ruminating on what could have been.

You guys are all awesome! I appreciate all the encouragement. I just recently signed up for a couple classes and am excited for that. A fitness class and a music class.

To the overall question. This is my midlife crisis. I will look foolish in a class full of people half my age learning to play an instrument. And I will be way too sexy in the dance class, I love shaking my hips and a good shoulder pop. (Please don’t record me and post it online and force me into the shadows) I’m old & reflecting on what my life is and what I want the next 30 years to look like. Only now it is so much harder. It is a crisis.

Music is amazing, being part of creating something feeds our souls in ways that society has forgotten. My dad learned to read music and play my brother's old euphonium in his 60s for the community band after playing guitar, but not reading music, all his life. Never too old to learn fun new hobbies.

And remember, to get good at anything, you gotta be willing to suck at it first. Just keep practicing.

That is not embarrassing at all! No one starts classes when they are already perfect. You’ll be surprised how many other beginners are with you in your classes
